Guest
Uhg…what is it with guys sometimes! I don’t know about you other ladies out there, but sometimes it can be so frustrating just ‘being yourself’. Case in point. I’ve had an interest in archery and finally have found the time to follow it through. I went to my second club practice session the other day and was trying to get to know the people there. Nothing big, just talking and trying to be social….mostly small talk, like how long have you been practicing etc. I started a conversation with a gentleman who looked like one of the clubs main participants in the hopes of learning some tips on how to be a good archer. It started off well enough, but I think he took my general interest in the sport and my desire to learn as interest in himself. This might be flattering if he was close to my age, but he looked to be in his mid 40’s and I’m still in my 20’s. Yikes, he told me his wife had passed away a year and a half ago, and asked me if I liked running. To which I honestly answered “no”. His comment to this was, in what I think he thought was a joking manner “well what would you do if I ran after you with a pointy stick?” Okayyyyy….how is one supposed to take a comment like that? Is it supposed to be a cute, funny, lewd? I personally found it off-putting and a bit inappropriate….I’d just met the guy and he had already told me his wife had passed away! I just don’t get it, why do guys throw things out there like that?? Did I take it the wrong way or what?? Confused....?

I don't know why they say such lame things but they do. Hell, I'M a guy and I don't get it!
jerbear
Sounds like a lewd older man looking for sympathy in his wife passing away. But I think he was looking for more than sympathy, as in awe, sorry, here is a hug.
SmoochieFace
But I think he was looking for more than sympathy, as in awe, sorry, here is a hug. A hug, my ass. He wanted to dip his wick. Period. Sick old bastard...
justagirliegirl
If he was young and cute you probably would have thought what he said was funny.

Dumbass is right, and lame is an understatement….honestly, I just don’t get it sometimes. Uhg….kind of frustrating to be yourself around people and get that sort of response. Even if it was a guy my age and cute, who wants comment like that thrown at them when they’ve just met?? I mean, what do you say to that sort of thing? “No, please don’t chase me with your pointy stick?!?!” Now if I could only act myself around the guys I was interested in. Do you guys find that happens to you too…..not interested in someone and can act completely normal, but once your interested clam right up? Confused….
