sazzya1987
I have been on the pill for about 3 months, I went to my clinic appointment and in this 3 months I have gained 2 stone!!!!! I have no idea how this happened since I eat healthy if you beleive that or not. I am worried about my health as I have put on this weight it makes me feel bad. I am always walking even before I put on this weight I am always going for long walks, so I do not understand how I got this weight in just 3 months. I heard the pill makes you put on weight whilst your on it but then you lose the weight from the pill ect. They said I shouldnt be on the pill because I am overweight. I am exercising way more than usual and going for walks like all day and eating alot of fruit and vegitables which is what I did anyway so how come I have put on this weight I do not understand. Maybe I need to stop eating altogether is healthy food makes me put on weight. Has anyone else had this problem whilst on the pill and will it get sorted out?
blind_otter
I gained weight on the pill. Unfortunately every type of pill I tried did the same thing so I have to use condoms.
Author sazzya1987
The nurse said if it is the pill then they will put me on a diffrent one and see if that does anything but if it has the same effect then I will be taken off the pill. I am a little bit worried because I would like that extra protection and the pill was the only thing I was keen on but if its going to make me put on weight then I am just not going to bother with it. But it would be nice just to have that extra protection against getting pregnant. There is no other form of protection I am really that intrested in apart from condoms and the pill. Author sazzya1987
I'll keep an eye on my weight and eat less to see if my weight drops down, when I go back and my weight is still a problem then I will look into more protection against pregnancy. For now I will just have to see what happens and keep a good eye on my weight.
littlekitty
The Pill can cause differing weight effects. Some women gain weight when using the Pill. Other women lose weight when taking the Pill. Hormones in the Pill may cause changes in appetite. These changes occur over several years and may cause some weight loss or gain. Some women have temporary fluid retention during the first month or so after starting the Pill. Some women gain weight as a side effect of estrogen use. This weight gain develops in the hips, thighs, and breasts. It is usually noticed after several months on the Pill. The Pill may aggravate depression for some women. This may lead to increased eating. If You Gain Weight on the Pill: If you find yourself putting on weight, the first thing to do is to try a different brand of Pill. Sometimes weight gain can be managed by changing to a different pill. If not, caloric reduction and increased exercise may be required. The pill is a very safe, effective means of birth control. Side effects such as weight gain are usually manageable while on the pill.
BeFree
I never found a pill that made my feel normal. I tried the patch and it gave me horrible stomach aches. I knew long before they came out and said it caused blood clots that there was something really wrong with the patch. Now I stay away from the pill and the patch. They asked me to try the ring but I said no thanks. My question is why do the doctors push you to try one pill after another? With all the new studies about them lowering your labido or causing blood clotts, it seems more would be offering diaphrams? No matter what you tell them about the pill or the patch, they just want to push you to try another. It makes no sense to me.
