Leahh
Tomorrow is the day! I'm sick of being fat.. it's diet time. The problem is, I don't know where to start, or where to go for support etc. I know what my problem is.. it's lack of exercise and eating plain junk food all the time. I don't really know why I'm posting this. I guess I have a few questions, I'm wondering how your first week of dieting went. Also, what do you do for exercise when you aren't a member at a gym/ arent comfortable running or walking through the neighborhood? Any tips/ tricks/ ideas or input would be great, I'm so serious about finally getting into shape... I hope I can do it
Guest
I'm betting there's an aerobics exercise show somewhere on your TV during the week.if they're done well, they will show people how to do the exercises at all levels, from beginner to advanced so you don't have to fear being worked to death. Tape some shows then set aside a time each day to do the exercises. If you tape a week of shows, you'll have some variety so you don't do the exact same thing every time. If you bus to work, get off a couple stops sooner and walk the rest of the way. When you shop, park at the end of the lot and walk. Instead of using the elevator in your office building, take the stairs, or if you work on a high floor, get off a couple floors before your floor and walk the rest of the way. Get off the couch and walk or run on the spot during the ads. Find ways to add activity to the normal things you do. There's a zillion sites about learning to eat right - remember, it's not 'diet', it's changing your lifestyle to eat better foods. Try doing it gradually. First thing I cut out was fatty stuff - chips, fried stuff - no more breaded, deep-fried anything. You think you'll miss it but once you haven't had it for a while, you don't even like it anymore; you find it icky and greasy. Next thing I did was add whole-grain breads rather than white. Then I started to drink more water. I never drank pop but if you do, that's another thing to cut back. I still have goodies, but I'll have two cookies every several days instead of four a day. I eat a bit of chocolate - one or two squares of a chocolate bar, for instance - every day. I eat very little meat but you don't have to quit meat. Just make things like bacon a rare treat rather than a regular occasion. You'll have to do some work to find healthy foods that you like, but once you're into the new habits and have found the foods you like, you'll love them as much as you love the icky stuff now. My most recent find is a vanilla soy milk that I just love - and soy milk can make a nice healthy snack for few calories. Don't try to do it all at once. If you make changes slowly, you have a better chance of making them a permanent part of your life. And the payoff is that you'll feel GRRRRRREAT!
Sassy
The only thing i can say is if your not use to exercising to start out slow and build up how long you exercise. Always change what you do day after to day cause your body grows accustom to things and it will hit a plateau. Doing different exercises through out the week shocks your body. That way you keep your body guessing and keeps the metabolism high. Eat plenty fruits and vegetables and protein and watch your calories . Drink lots of water and always keep well hydrated.
