Creatine / Workingout

Recommended Posts

Pachuca Sunrise

Im currentley a sophmore attending highschool. I have been working out for about 6 months now and went from 195 really chubby and no tone, to 201 losing 13 lbs of fat and gaining some muscle mass. Im 5'11 btw

I am now weight lifting for football. I know alot of the varsity football players that are taking creatine. I clearly see a difference in their level of strength. Im trying to get down to 185 because I have a little fat around me that I want to get rid of.

I was thinking once we started running and I lost 5lbs i was then going to start taking creatine. I want to be able to play for varsity and reach the level of strength that they are.

I need some advice on whether to take it or not. I cant go to my parents because they absolutley forbid me taking it. My mom told "you better not be taking any steriods or anything."

I know creatine is not a steriod and if my mom knew she would flip out and wouldnt even listen to what it is or read about it so I decided not to involve he.

Well if anyone is familiar with creatine advice is much appreciated

what i have read on creatine suggests that there are no long term studies to show what long term use can do. knowing this, i would advise against it. it effects the muscles, causing water retention, and your heart is a muscle. if you must do this, i would let your parents know and tell your doctor at your next check up, and follow their advice. be careful when there isn't evidence to back a product. you are young. your body has to last a good long time. you don't want congestive heart failure at 30 because of some pill you took in your teens. i personally don't think it's a good idea. As was mentioned it causes water retention in the muscle tissue (hence looking larger). The problem is this water is drawn from the blood, causing blood serum levels to drop. Going out and running in this condition can be hazardous as the blood is thicker and harder to pump. Also once you stop taking it, you lose the effects of it.

Aight dude i know everything ther is to know about this subject. I came from the opposite end. Im 6'5 and and 175 lbs. I used to be 200 from steroid use and extreme eating. I work out like no bodies business.

For someone with you proportions, i suggest you just concentrate on nutritional eating and protein intake. All creatine does is give you a concentrated dose of vitamins and a protein. You want you body to actively turn the energy that is stored in the fat into muscle. To do that, you decrease your intake of all the bad s*** and focus on eating the good s*** while working out constantly. Creatine can do the same thing but it is more focused on getting muscle gain on skinnier dudes.

But then again, if you are purely going for streng and not cut, then creatine will just add to the affects of proper diet and nutrition. My advice to you is workout like crazy and watch you lose weight and get stronger at the same time. I wish i had fat to work with.

ps. dont do steroids.

I went a strength increase But i also want to look good. You know being 16 and looking good raises your self-esteem and confidence levels which will help me in my social life, and possbly on the field. Iv started running at least a mile a night depends on how im feeling from my weight lifting earlier that day. But im really trying to lose this excess fat I think it will increase my speed, strength, and all around being an athlete.

But im working out like a beast and iv seen a dramatic strength increase I went from benching about 125 to 175, squat 100 to 200, and my over all improvement on workouts and suprisingly i can run longer??? and i lost the flabb underneath my arms.

And i weighed in again and now im 205... Weioght doesnt matter to me just my fat bothers me ..

I have fat in a really weird place other ppl dont... I have fat like on my back like underneath my armpits and around that area. There are people that weigh alot more then me and dont have it... but i do? its quite disgusting it hink and thats the place i really really want to lose fat the most any dies on how tog et rid of that?

Creatine is composed of CREATINE, not vitamins and proteins! The technical term is creatine mono-hydrate. There are also different variations of it such as creatine ethyl-ester, or creatine malate. Creatine is natural and found in most protein rich foods. All creatine suppliments do is give you a HUGE boost of it. It saturates your cells with water and increases your muscles ability replenish adenosine triphosphate (ATP, your muscles energy source). So what you get is more energy and shorter recovery times. This all sounds great and it is, but you're 16! You're still developing and now is not the time to screw with your body. Any creatine bottle will say it is "intended for use by persons 18 and older". Keep doing what you're doing and once your body and brain has reached adult maturity than you can experiment a bit! If you're persistant about starting creatine than talk to your doctor he'll know best! I would never screw with my body because of advice I got from a love shack forum. If your doctor gives you the thumbs up than all the power too ya.

Good luck and use your head before you do anything you might regret.

Exactly!!! you are way to young for steroids.

Creatine is the only option you should explore and even at 16 might not be the best idea.

Steroids can have their place depending on your age, knowledge of the drugs you take and of course your morals on the subject but at 16 just eat right and let your body grow naturally until your late teens then look into supplementation.

Once after googling on creatine I found an oblique reference to it possibly causing impotence. It was just a single reference, on a forum site much like this one. The guy called this phenomenon "crea dick". I immediately threw away all my creatine and have never used it since.

:)

It very well may be harmless though. As with any drug/supplement, who really knows ?

I am also a heavy body builder type as well. Yes I have used creatine monohydrate and creatine ethyl ester over different training fazes, and as well as "using my body as a semi experimental suject" haha

Bottom line for you Pachuca: if you have noticable body fat - like you mention - creatine will make you look even fatter, by adding an additional 5-7 pounds of water weight to the muscles you have hiding under the fat layer. The strength gains are not as amazing as suppliment companies will have you believe. you may add 10 - 15lbs to your bench or other equip, but nothing more than that - and if it is more than that - you probably weren't pushing yourself hard enough to begin with. Creatine is great for guys who have low bodyfat percentages (mines down to 8.5 right now) and it adds a level of rip that you're only going to really notice when you get down into those body fat ranges.

You're young yo, there's no reason for you not to go to the gym and just kickass and lose the weight and put on some serious muscle - god i wish my metabolism was back where yours is at your age. The majority of suppliments are crap. A healthy diet and vigorous training will get you on the right path. Once you've reached that point, then you can pick and choose what you want to experiment with.

And like AltPlanB says: don't be tempted by the steroids. that s*** is bad

The research on creatine is usually conducted on college aged students. You are young and full of testosterone. I don't think creatine is helpful for your age group. Let your body grow naturally. Train hard, drink water, eat 5-6 meals per day and you'll see results. The group that most benefits from creatine is over 30 years old.
