benditlikebeckham Posted March 31, 2006 Share Posted March 31, 2006 My husband's older brother married a girl 3 years ago. They have a daughter and live on the east coast. We live very far from them. So, we don't meet as often. Maybe once a year. My husband's family is pretty small. My wish has always been that everybody gets along. However, my hubby's brother's wife has never really made an effort to fit in. She's very dismissive of us. She has never once called us (in 3 years) to ask how we are doing. She never emails or stays in touch. In fact, it seems like she simply doesn't care about this side of the family. She treats her parents and family completely opposite to how she treats us. My husband's relationship with his brother is not all that great either. His brother only calls us from his drive home from work. Hardly ever from home. They don't really even communicate for weeks sometimes. Is this normal behaviour ? Also, should I even try to be nice to his wife or should I just avoid her at all terms ? I have always made the effort in the past (called, sent emails, cards etc.) but got very little or nothing in return from her. Its always been from my side and never from her.
