Guest Posted April 12, 2006 Share Posted April 12, 2006 Ok, my parents are starting to drive me mad! I’m an adult child who’s moved out…in a sense. I’m renting a place that’s owned by my parents 45 minutes away from their home. This place was a cottage at one point, but because the family is growing up (I’m the oldest) it’s not used as such anymore. It’s a mutually beneficial arrangement in many ways, but in some it’s less than ideal. The worst part is because they own the property and I rent it, they think they can drop in anytime without notice. A result of them dropping in all the time is that they are constantly acting the ‘parental figure’…which is driving me mad! I’ve lived away before and absolutely love not having to answer to anyone, do what I want, when I want, and know that when I go home I will have the place to myself. I really am getting pissed at them coming out and scrutinizing what I’m doing and how. I don’t like the constant hints dropped about what I ‘should’ be doing etc. Not only that I find I’m always being asked where I’m going and what I’m doing. Why can’t the just bug the H*ll off! It’s extremely annoying when I’ve invited friends over and I come home to find one of my parents there. Ok, enough for the rant…..how do I get the message across to them nicely that they are invading my space? Thanks! CC Link to post Share on other sites
