Shall I Buy An Excersize bike???

I hate going to the gym because i always bump into someone i know at any gym i go to. I hate jogging and cycling out doors because again i always always bump into people i know....everyone knows everyone around here i hate it! lol

I'm desperate to loose some weight and keep fit and i've been considering buying an exercise bike...i'm not too sure whether this will be the best apparatus for me as i seem to put weight on all over instead of just once or two specific places but it's more noticeable on my hips and thighs than anywhere else because clothes tend to hide weight gain anywhere else.

Does an excersize bike sound the best for me?

It's a good start because any weight loss is all over - it's building muscle and toning where you have to consider what type of exercise equipment you want.

If you are unsure - look at garage sales or classified ads and buy a used one -- you'll spend less money and if you decide to use it as a clothes rack instead of an exercise bike, you won't be out as much money. The Total Gym might be a good idea too - but be careful of which style you get -- they have weight limits and they use your body's own weight as resistence. If you are too heavy you won't get the workout you need until after you've lost weight.

Find an exercise tape and follow that. I can't stand that Richard Simmons  but when I first started losing weight his was the best workout to get me ready for toning and muscle building.

I would say, what kinds of activities do you naturally enjoy doing? Then tailor your exercise to fit that. you're more likely to stick to it if it's something you enjoy, or at least would consider doing normally.

Exercise Bikes are really boring!

Nothing better than a group ride ( There are groups of all ability and really easy to join ) cause you are outside and can talk to people while you exercise.

Alot of people who buy exercise bikes and treadmills can never seem to stick to their fitness plan and seem to give it away ... and this is mainly due to the fact that it is outright BORING!

Try and make exercise as enjoyable as possible.

i would say to try an eliptical machine. They are probably a bit more expensive, but I know that I'm more apt to get one of those for a lot longer than I am an excercise bike or treadmill. I can seem to go for longer on the eliptical and burn more calories...it also gets your arms moving as well.

Why not drive your bike over to a park thats about 15 or 20 miles away and go biking there? maybe you won't run into as many people!

An excercise bike is a good start; however it depends on what you are trying to do. A bike is pretty stationary, passive, and you can watch tv.

How about this solution which I use. Get a road bike and a trainer set. You can take the bike outside when it is nice. when the weather is not nice you can still ride the bike.

As a guy, I doubt women get this issue; get a good seat you feel comfortable sitting on!:lmao:

somewhat funny... :lmao: :lmao:

I did that once, carted the bike, drove for 15 minutes, spent another 15 unloading getting ready only to ride it for 1 hour. Waste of time driving a bike around.

Bike groups are fun but they can ride fast like 20+ mph.
