I'm feeling sluggish, unmotivated (physically) and my first step is to clean out my system of all those 'poisons' (cigarettes, alcohol, refined sugars, red meat) that I've had a great time ingesting all these years. I'm gonna miss them.:(

I'm wondering if anyone knows a good way to start this off. Only water? Water and juice? Water/juice/vegetables? s***-doesn't sound like much in the way of protein and I do need some energy.

Any ideas?

Actually my family just got these pills called 'Ultimate Cleanse'. They're supposed to be great. They're all natural. You start out with 1 pill in the morning and 1 pill at night, and then work your way up til you have 2-3 BM's a day, totally cleans out your system.

Do you know what the natural ingredients are? Are you suppose to supplement them with food?

I might try them, but the thing is.........I have a real problem taking pills of any kind.

Thanks for the info erika!

water fruits and veggies

In their natural form?-cuz for the time being I'm really trying to avoid most forms of cooking. Right now I'm drinking Naked juice (pomegranate). Kind of sucks.

psyllium husks, i think that's how you spell them. You drink it mixed with water. It supposedly helps clean you out.

There's a company that makes premixted ones that come in packages, but they are pricey. I think it's called bora, but that may just be the initials of the company name. the are a bit expensive, but they do taste yummy. I've had the pomegranate flavor.

Hmm..gotta check it out (husks)--why does that sound familiar?

You've used them, I gather, how did you feel? Notice any significant difference in energy?

The pills erika mentioned sounded interesting as well.........entails elimination through 5 points of the body, with ginseng for energy.

Not so much an energy increase, but my energy felt clearer. Does that make any sense? I could focus better.

Absolutely makes sense. Oftentimes the two are connected.

I need to do a flush, but I was thinking of doing a 2-3 day fast with lots of psyllium.

One of my friends from massage school keeps trying to convince me to get a colonic.

No tubes up my butt, thanks very much.

According to just about every colonic story I've heard, there is some lingering piece of broccoli lurking in the digestive tract.

My aunt had one............but I personally believe her sex life has been lacking and did it for the 'sensation'. She's like that.

I can't bring myself to do a colonic. I'm just too shy or something. I would be SO embarassed.

Acidophillus works for me, too, but it makes me a little gassy, which I don't like.

The whole idea of 'detoxification' by taking laxatives, etc. sounds bogus to me. People get colonoscopies all the time - if you really want, go do that. You can watch on the screen and see in living colour that there's nothing stuck up your butt. :lmao:

I had to get a colonoscopy once. When my digestive tract just stopped working for 3 years and I had to take motility drugs to digest food.

What a horrible horrible experience. The prep is the worst. THE WORST. At least they shoot you up with valium though.

Try the "cabbage diet". It's a week long process where you eat only certain things (one day is friuts, one day veggies, etc.) on certain days but you're allowed all the cabbage soup you want to keep you full. Try googling it. It's a good way to detoxify your body and lose 10 pounds.

Cabbage soup meaning just broth and cabbage?

If I'm ever looking for a way to make my kids avoid me--that would be the recipe to do so.

i'm not a fan of these "detoxifying diets" It seems like they are a quick fix for people that want to be healthy, but only want to take the time to do it a few weeks a year. It's like they can do whatever they want, and then "cleanse' themselves of it.

Don't go on a diet, change you habbits. Cut out all processed sugar, simple carbs and white flour. Eat lots of fresh veggies and fruits and eat as much raw or steamed as you can. Meats are fine, just avoid high fat. Lots of chicken and other poultery and make sure when you do eat beef, you trim as much fat off as you can.

that simple diet change as well as introducing aerobic exercising into your daily routine (maybe bike commute to work?) will make a bugger difference then any fast
