My story got critiqued last night

Anyone who has seen my threads has probably read about my short story class I signed up for after my break-up. Last night was my critique- it went fairly well. I got a lot of good suggestions and the reactions from each individual person was almost exactly what I expected to get. I'm going to do a rewrite now and polish it up.

 

I felt really good because everyone liked the way I wrote it and even those who didn't quite get it or didn't really like the story itself said they were very drawn into it.

 

And after class one of my classmates, and older man who's critique had been one of my more feared said that he thought my story was the best one we have read so far (out of about a dozen). Hearing that from someone I expected to dislike it made me feel good.

 

So, some self-improvement managed
