typical
I have been noticing this strange phenomenon that I seem thwarted by. I am wondering if we really do recieve signs in our life, and if anyone else has experienced or is experiencing this in their relationships.. It seems like if I do something that displeases my BF, the "universe" gets back at me...it doesnt matter how big or little, something will happen to me that always "proves" my BF's point. Case and point: BF wants me to park my car in a specific place....I dont like parking there b/c then he always parks behind me (even if there are other places to park) so I cant get out and its a b!tch to get him to move...he started using the scare tatic of "you cant park on the grass because you will get a ticket" Well, I ignored him and ended up recieving a ticket....and now of course i have to park in the spot he wanted me to. Additionally, he told me that he doesnt want me driving at night. If I need to go to the store, I am going to go, regardless of the hour. All of a sudden, my car is crapping out & is about to die. Guess that takes care of that. (He blames it on me driving it all the time) BF didnt want me to go in a jacuzzi with my new bikini the other day because alot of men where present. I protested that this was what other people were doing and went anyway. When I got out, I ended up almost slicing my toe clean off in a freak accident. My first thought was that I should of listened to him because now I have hamburger toe. There are MANY countless big and little occurances, too many to include where things either go in his favor or somehow, someway, the universe (or god?) punishes me...this is only a few small examples, because I didnt want to go into detail (you know, anonymity and such) Does this happen to anyone else?? blind_otter
Hmm. You should google "fundamental attribution error". God doesn't hate anyone. But God wants us to use the free will that we were given. My guess is you feel guilty about going against his wishes, and end up making things happen?
Author typical
My guess is you feel guilty about going against his wishes, and end up making things happen? But I dont feel guilty!! At the time, I feel justified and defiant, because it seems like he is always trying to keep me down. Even so, my car is my life support....It is my all because it has always been there for me, it is my safety net.... things got s***ty, I grabbed some crap and hopped in my car to another state and destiny, it was that simple...I never would have made that happen. blind_otter
It's called the subconscious for a reason, you know. I think it's kind of egotistical to think God is specifically punishing you for this little tiny detail in the whole reality of existence.
1Gravity
I think God is aware of the intracacies of our lives but tends to intervene little. He can, and does but my feeling is that most of what happens is random, yet oddly by design. It's the whole "free will" element that makes it random. If you're feeling distant from God, it's because you moved, not Him. Be blessed, 1gravity (gravity was taken)
blind_otter
I'm just saying. I don't think God gives out parking tickets or slices people's toes open because they got in a hotub. Unless the hotub was filled with like the blood of slaughtered children or something.
penkitten
i think that god loves you very much and would never be mad at you. i also think i would get a less demanding boyfriend.
aleatoryd
I don't think it's God. There are God moments when all the signs scream out it's GOD but then there are other things which happen which are just plain quirky: like take for instance the situation where the girl I first really head over heels felt crazy for was a Becky that was many years ago. Then last November I met a girl online and we hit it off. Turns out her name was Becky as well. Now only a month ago I'm interested in another woman I met called Becky. Is it God? Is it fate, chance, luck. Were there just a lot of girls named Rebecca during the late 70s early 80s? Do I subconciusly seek out "Beckys". I don't know the answer. What i do know is that when your mind is distracted by the thoughts that something has happenred or will happen then they usually do. Do you have the expression "accidents happen in threes"? It's quite true because one bad thing happens. You feel really bad so yoiu are so stressed/worried about it another thing happens and look finally a third thing! If it was accidents happen in fours or fives would the same thing happen? Sure I expect it would! Similarly there are self fulfilling prophecies - not supernatural or of God. These are just things where what we or others say or think will affect how we act (sometimes it's subconcious) and again it all goes exactly as was predicted. A lot of things are blamed on God but they are really just our actions whether we realise it or not. Maybe we should spend less tame blaming and more time thanking! Oh and if there's an unhappiness at the root of this I suggest you think about addressing your issues with your b/f it sounds like he's being unreasonable and possibly the reason why you are distracted/stressed and thus experiencing these bad things. burning 4 revenge
I'm just saying. I don't think God gives out parking tickets or slices people's toes open because they got in a hotub. Unless the hotub was filled with like the blood of slaughtered children or something. That was cute. It depends on the god you know. Baal likes the blood of slaughtered children. aleatoryd
That was cute. It depends on the god you know. Baal likes the blood of slaughtered children. Isn't Baal the pig god? Each to their own I guess - and NO that wasn't a jibe at you B4R lol
blind_otter
That was cute. It depends on the god you know. Baal likes the blood of slaughtered children. I could not resist. Baal (baʿal) is a Semitic title and honorific meaning lord.
Outcast
It is hardly God's role to back up your controlling bf. I think you're falling into the trap abused women fall into - feeling you are in the wrong constantly should you dare to 'defy' his unreasonable demands and illogical rules. Making yourself wrong so you can agree with him in his attempt to peel away your confidence in your own judgement. Don't be a party to this and for pity's sakes, refuse to believe God would take the side of a jerk.
