Is this strange or normal

My boyfriend moved about 4 weeks ago to take a job promotion about 5 1/2 hours away. We talk everyday a couple of times a day. He travels about 3 days of the week to various other places. He is really busy most of time and I have more free time than he does with my job. I suggested that I come there to see him since I have more time. He said that he doesn't like the idea of me driving that far and having to worry about me. (He's always been like that). He said maybe I could drive when he is out of town to one of the closer places so that it wouldn't be that far. I would think he would want to see me and that he would be happy that I would come to see him. Does this sound normal or is something wrong here?

The next time that he is out of town to one of the *closer* places. Offer to go see him.

He said maybe I could drive when he is out of town to one of the closer places so that it wouldn't be that far.

If he *still* tells you no, then you have your answer.

 

I think he's just being considerate, imho.

I am in a similar situation. My bf seems to work all the hours of the day and whenever I suggest flying over (uk - usa) to see him he says he cant guarantee he will be around as he is all over the state with his work.

I was really wary at first but when I think on it... he's always worked there wierd hours etc so I've accepted that he is just really really busy and is thinking of the cost it is to get over there. I booked up to go see him this summer although he is working, I have my friends during the day and will try and see him at night... the way i see it... a few hours with him is better than nothing.

 

I think the surprise visit him is a good idea, I mean I would sure as hell do it if I was able to drive down to see him.
