Is it no physical contact, or just everything, big dramatic goodbye email and all.

If I still like him and want him for a friend (eventually) do i have to start with the NC? And for how long?

I would appreciate tips on how to tell a person you don't want to hear from them again (when all you live for is hearing from them again).

any good books to suggest or movies? i will need to force myself into this and i need as much ammunition as possible.

NC is NC. Period. But given your situation that you've known him for a lifetime, I think its only fair that you tell him. However you want to do it. You can't wonder about the future and being friends til you get past the A. Time will tell.
