Guest
I've been working at a small/medium-sized company (a step up from where I was at before and on the way to my career goal) since December. My regular schedule is two days per week from 4 p.m. to 1 a.m. (that's the normal shift, we work late). I've talked with the manager about more scheduled hours either in my department or with other duties. So, about every other week or so I'm being asked to fill in or work extra hours (during the day, from about 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.). I need the money, I like the work and the people are nice. He basically says he's offering me work to "see if you like it" and that I should let him know if I'd like to switch departments altogether. I would like to work for this company full-time, but it doesn't seem like they're willing to offer it. Would it be wise to look for part-time work closer to where I live (I work about 45 minutes away) or keep waiting for my current employer?
