Feeling overwhelmed by events

I have been having a few really hard days, preceeded by lots of doubts and changes in my life. I just got married a month ago, but we're still living apart for the next few months 3-6 we're not sure yet. I'll be leaving the city I'll have lived in less than a year (and where I'm still feeling unsettled and a bit lonely) to join him in a new city where he'll also be new. I didn't have many options for jobs so I'm taking one that wouldn't be my first choice mostly because it involves public speaking. And I have a real fear of public speaking. But it wouldn't work out another way so I'm trying to think positively.

I've been living away from my friends and family for a few years now so am feeling a bit disconnected and haven't really made new friends yet. I often think that it would be nice to be close to home, but my husband couldn't find a job there so its unrealistic. But I found out something that made all of this seem trivial but all the worse at the same time. My mom just found out she has parkinsons. I feel so bad that i can't be closer and that I feel locked into this situation we're in. She's being very positive about the whole thing it just makes me feel sad and guilty. I haven't told my husband yet about my mom. In terms of the stress and sadness I've been feeling he's been understanding and supportive. I just don't know what I can do in this situation that will make me feel like I have any control or hope for our future. Right now I'm feeling so hopeless. Anyone have any good ideas on how to cope with so many changes all at once so I can be good for the people around me and for myself?

Try to get connected, that's one thing you KNOW you can do. I'd suggest a local church if you're religious, othewise a local group that focuses on one of your interests. Finally, if you want to grow and get connected to people facing real issues, attend an al-anon group. Sounds silly but you'll find acceptance, friendship and people focused on growing themselves.

Plug in and grow!!

When I found out my Dad had cancer, I dropped everything. I don't know if you have the ability but you should visit your Mom. IS she really far from you?

And you should let your H know what's going on.
