Appearing needy/over eager

Recommended Posts

So I met a guy one week ago and we really hit if off etc. We swapped numbers and he smsed me that night to say it was really nice meeting me and would be more than happy to see me whenever I was free.

Unfortunately the next day he injured himself at sports (I know this for a fact) and has been stuck at home in crutches ever since (now one week).

We've still kept in touch and he still seemed very interested despite his injury a few days after we met. We were supposed to go out this Saturday and the plan was to wait and see how his injured leg was healing.

Problem is, on Friday he still didn't tell me for sure if the date was still on so I smsed him and he told me nicely that he didn't think he could make it. I replied suggesting I could pick him up etc but he didn't reply back. I panicked, and later that night sent him a funny sms teasing him about his leg and hinting that I was going out (so he wouldn't think I was stuck at home waiting for him). He did reply to that but instead of smsing I called back. He didn't answer (for what ever reason).

Since then I've not contacted him (2 days) and haven't heard from him either. I know he should be out of crutches in another two weeks.

I'm worried now that I have pushed him too much for this date and now he's turned off? Does that sound like a reasonable statement, or am I just over-reacting?

I want him to know that I'm ready when he is but not so much to turn him off. I'm scared that the weeks will pass and he's lose interest/forget about me. What should I do?

Woman, just wait a couple extra days more and see what he does. Experience tells me that women will think a guy is truly disinterested if he doesn't contact them within a week. It's been a less than that. Wait before you decide to write him off. Plus he's been injured! A guy wants to go on a date at his best not when he's mangled up or on crutches (excluding handicapp people)

Personally, I don't think a phone call and a couple of texts make someone look needy. Offering to pick him up could have been regarded as a nice thing to do.

Perhaps he has just problems with his leg so he has other things on his mind?

Perhaps he got your text message

later that night sent him a funny sms teasing him about his leg and hinting that I was going out

the wrong way?

So the update is that after 3 days of not hearing from him, I smsed him if he was still interested in catching up when he's better. He said "Of course I will be still interested in meeting you". Now it's been a further 7 days and I still haven't heard a word.

What's bugging me is that he says he is keen. Sure, he's injured, but wouldn't you still contact a girl within 7 days even if it is just to say hi, to show you are still thinking of her? It's been 2.5 weeks since the injury occurred - a badly pulled calf muscle.

He is playing games. I suspect.

I mean, before your last post I would have agreed with the others, that he was simply injured and in my eyes if I were on crutches and in pain I'd not be feeling like going on a date where let's face it you want to appear your best, and being able to 'strut' [teeheehee] would be a plus. As a male he is probably a little ashamed of his injury. God knows why.

But not contacting you after 7 days is a game. He's on crutches, not in a coma. :o

Yeah, it's really confusing. I don't know why he would be playing games.

I was thinking of on the 8-day mark just send a casual, "How are you? How's the leg?" kind-of sms. Then if he says it's a bit better, I'll suggest that I might be free this weekend?

What do you think?
