Capslocked
What's the best way to do this? I've tried sit-ups, russian twist, curls, cross-over curls, jack-knife sit ups, and all kinds of tricks. All consistently. Is there a diet that I'm not aware of to make some of my gut disappear or what?
reservoirdog1
If anybody else has a great solution, I'm all ears too. Seriously though, the one consistent thing I've read is that, if you want to have abs and be able to SEE them, you need to radically decrease your body fat percentage. Otherwise they'll be invisible under the extra padding.
Pink_Tulip
You can have the best six pack in the world, but no one will see it if it is covered in fat. If you have a belly, sit ups won't make a difference at all, you must do cardio to burn the fat off. Try running for 20 minutes 3-4 times a week. Not a huge investment in time, but it should do the trick!
Pyro
Continue with the ab workouts, do plenty of running, and less consumption of alcohol and fast food.
Guitar Wizard
Not to be some kind of sell-out or anything, but the Ab-lounge works WOUNDERS. It's perfect, and you'll get nice abs in no-time! I would take pictures to show off my results with little use of the ab-lounge, but I don't think you guys care anyway. Just know that it works, and your fat will slowly turn into muscle if you just work at it long enough. Anyway, it's not that expensive, and it gives great results for guys that want to have a nice chest to show off.

Spiderman
Did you know that sometimes, it's a 8-pack (That is what I have! "What do you expect, I'm a super-hero!" ), sometimes a 4-pack, and, of course, the 6-pack? Believe it or not, everyone has abs! Yes, they are often hidden behind a layer of — what shall we call it — padding! Don't expect your abs "to come out" because you are doing a zillion ab exercises. Remember, you can't spot reduce. You need to eat less calories then you burn. Watch your fat intake, especially fried foods. Have your body fat ratio taken by a trainer. Generally for men, abs start to show around 12%, and women around 16% b-fat. Of course, that is a general assumption. Make sure your workouts consist of weight lifting and cardiovascular exercises. Eat sensibly &watch your calorie intake. If you are really looking for the 6-pack, you need to train your abs like you would any other muscle. Although bear in mind not everyone will be able to achieve washboard abs. Genetics plays a crucial role. The key to six-pack abs is losing body fat, not doing crunches. ... In my experience, I find out that most people don't watch their calorie intake and/or the calories they do eat are loaded with fat, sugar and alcohol. If you are drinking a 6-pack, it does not mean you are getting a 6-pack! I recommend you eat 5/6 small meals throughout the day to keep your metabolism rolling. Meal Replacements are a good supplement, Met-RX, Myoplex etc, there are many to choose from. Stick with it & you to can achieve amazing abs like 'Spiderman'
Guitar Wizard
Did you know that sometimes, it's a 8-pack? I actually have an 8-pack too, but I have to flex for the very bottom pair to become noticeable. Otherwise it's just a little extra two, I should probably work out more but i've been lazy lately

eyeswideshut
what's a ab-louge? I run every day, and my only body part I am working on is butt. I do lots of hill running, and not much, min. 20 minutes, but most of the time it's 25-30. I just go 15 minutes up hill, and then turn around and do the rest flat and downhill. I also got those MBT shoes. They claim it's like walking on sand. Well, I walked everywhere with those last summer, and my legs and butt thanked me for it. But my sister says it's not the shoes, it's just that i'm consistent. I do longer runs on weekends. But i run everyday. And stretch a lot. I never did situps. But I don't have abs. Just no fat. Outcast
Cardio doesn't burn any more fat than any other exercise does. You lose 100 calories per mile whether you walk or run. The difference is if you walk for an hour you maybe go 3 miles where if you run for an hour you probably go 5 or maybe 6 miles - so it's the extra distance, not the cardio, that takes weight off. Also, if you want to know where you are roughly at currently, get your bodyfat tested by someone who knows how to properly use bodyfat calipers. If you are anywhere above 10-11% bodyfat - unless you are a genetic lotto winner - you're probably not going to see more then the top two abs. The average person needs to get down to 7-9% body fat to really begin seeing the cuts that define your abs. As to whether you have a 6 pack or an 8 pack - that's entirely genetics. Get out there and burn some calories everyone has abs, it's just a matter of how disciplined you're willing to be to see them. cheers

Dawn82
Is there a diet that I'm not aware of to make some of my gut disappear or what? Yes, its called eating less calories then you use during the day. You do this in a gradual manner until enough fat goes away and you can see your abs. It really is quite top secret so don't tell anyone! We don't want all the fat people to stop wasting money on magical diet pills and fad diets and actually maybe being lean do we?! Shahar.
Guest
right, cardio is the only way to go.. not these fancy ab lounges ( no offense ). You need to diet properly, eat 6 smalls meals 2-3 hours a part to keep you'r metabolic rate ticking over to keep burning fat. Also when doing cardio you need to work in your lower target heart rate ( if you do not know wat urs is look on google and find yours out) that way your body can oxiginise properly and fat rather then carbs will be burnt. there is no fancy way to gitting ur abs other then a good diet and well perfomed cardio. good luck with the abs. gfto
You have to diet properly in order to decrease bodyfat (around 10% or less). Great abs are made in the kitchen, not the gym.
BrandonBP
Try doing your cardio workouts first thing in the morning. I hate like hell to get up early, but it's far more effective for burning fat than running later in the day. When you run late in the day, your body is getting its energy from burning the calories that are left in your system from the meals you've eaten that day. When you run in the morning, you've been fasting for 8 hours and your body has no choice but to use your fat stores to produce energy. Run in the mornings before you eat. I usually wait an hour after the run to consume anything because your body will continue to burn fat for an hour or so after your run is complete.
