Should I report this??

Recommended Posts

I'd have to say that grabbing a 16 year old girl by the throat so that she couldn't breath and then throwing her head first into a closet so that she sees stars is a definite threat to her safety.

The reason I wrote my post the way I did was to try and emphasize that unless there are marks calling the police will only fuel more anger from the father.

By advising the OP to just " Report him or call the police " without understanding the ramifications that can come from that is wrong advice to give.

I completely see where you are coming from, but it could also open up his eyes as to what he is putting her through, but it could also inflame him. I'd suggest removing yourself from the family home as well for a while until this issue gets resolved.

I'd definitely say that she needs to get out of the house and have the family seek help over the anger issues. The problem is that this can really affect people into adulthood and negative patterns can be repeated.

it isn't okay to be abused by anyone. And if she doesn't stand up for herself now, she could end up being a victim in other relationships in the future.

it's a real toughie but do get help, Chloe. Stay with friends or understanding relatives and try and focus on your education and yourself. Your dad needs help but you do to. If he is throwing you around you need to get out. Next time he throws you head first into something you may not see stars. You may not see anything at all. don't put yourself in a dangerous situation - please do get help.
