whichwayisup
Tell your parents and GO to the DR. They aren't going to announce to everybody what you have. You need to get on medication to get rid of these worms! IF you don't, your health could be a risk! So TELL your folks! Get them to take you to the DR!
Pink_Tulip
I was listening to loveline a looooooong time ago, and dr drew said if you think you have pinworms, put a piece of masking tape up against your bum hole right before you go to sleep. That way, when they come out at night they will stick to the tape and you will see them and know definately. Very gross, but something I always remembered b/c it was so weird, lol. Maybe try it, and if you get your evidence you can then go to your parents? And no, they won't leave on their own. I believe there is a course of pills to take. You need to see a dr if you do have them.
whichwayisup
Either way, he has to go the DR. An itchy bum isn't a good thing!
Art_Critic
A microscope is required to be able to tell if you have pinworms.. Go to a DR.. Tell your parents How is pinworm infection diagnosed? If pinworms are suspected, transparent adhesive tape or a pinworm paddle (supplied by your health care provider) are applied to the anal region. The eggs adhere to the sticky tape or paddle and are identified by examination under a microscope. The test should be done as soon as you wake up in the morning (because bathing or having a bowel movement may remove eggs). The exam may require several samples for diagnosis. Samples taken from under the fingernails may also contain eggs (since scratching of the anal area is common). At night, the adult worms can sometimes be seen directly in bedclothes or around the anal area.
Pink_Tulip
Yes, the eggs can only be seen by a microscope, but the worms are big enough to be seen without. Not saying the OP should forgo the Dr altogether, just thought if they actually saw worms coming out of their butt they'd be more motivated to go, and the tape is a good way to do that. What are pinworms? Pinworms are small white threadlike worms that infect up to 10 percent of children and teens. If your child's infected, he'll probably scratch and complain of itching around the anus, especially at night. The worms, which look like 1/4-inch-long pieces of dental floss, can be seen wiggling around the anus and in the stool. Having this common childhood malady isn't a sign of poor hygiene. The worms pose no health risks, and — unlike lice — are easily eradicated.
Tim'sAngel
I remember getting them when I was a little girl. I think everyone gets them at one point of their lives. Tell your parents, who are they gonna tell? You have to be treated to get rid of them. They are not just going to go away on there own. If your dad is a Dr. he will surely know what to do. Don't be embarrassed. It happens to almost everyone!!

SuperMonk
Do not put your fingers in your mouth, wash often.
kitkat826
I got them when I was a teengager and was also mortified. I went to the local CVS pharmacy and asked the pharmacist discreetly about it. He recommended an over the counter medicine that was right there on the shelves. I bought it, used it, and got rid of the problem easily. The other day I was back at CVS getting cold medicine and saw the same stuff right there, so I know they still have it.
Jewel64
First off, you don't need a magnafine glass to see the pin worms. They are 1/2 in long aprox. and off white color. Kinda shaped like an earthworm but small. They will come out of your anus at night to lay their eggs. The itching is actually them crawling. I know, I had them for YEARS. I was exactly your age 15 when I finally got the nerve up to tell my mother something was wrong. When I had them it was way back before the internet so I honestly thought I was dying. I spent 5 or more years with the nasty buggers and no one had a clue. When I finally told my mother, I didn't eveh have to see a doctor. They called in a pill, she picked it up and within one week I was cured of them. I can't believe that no one else in my family ever got them. I feel for you and completely understand your alarm. Hope you have the problem resolved by now. Note to other Mom's out there. If you have never talked to your child about parasites, it is a good thing to do so. If not they may suffer needlessly as I did and most people do if they aquire them at a young age and not know what to do. Just a thought..... Jewels
Tim'sAngel
 I think not! Oh come on, you know you've had them b4... Its ok Johan... we still love you!!
a-j
lol i really dont know why i know so much about these but yes you can get rid of them without pills however it takes a little longer and a lot more effort. With pills they can be gone within 2 weeks but if your gonna be secrative and get rid of them yourself they will completely gona by a month at best. So, the itching is when eggs are deposited, after the eggs are deposited the female dies, you then itch at night and the eggs get underneath your finger nails which you then swallow during the day, then the eggs hatch, some reproduce, lay more eggs (they can lay 10000 to be precise but dont worry hardly any of those hatch!) and then die etc etc, process starts again. Without using medicine you get rid of them by interupting this cycle, as you said you need to be very hygenic, change your sheets at least once a week, keep your nails really really short, wash your hands all the time, DONT ITCH! and a common technique, as long as you sleep clothed- tuck your top into your trousers/shorts and that way you will not scrach in your sleep as they only come out at night, the itching is the secretion from the female pinworm which is irritant to the skin. You need to shower daily at night and morning and wash the area to remove any eggs that have been layed, then to prevent spread to your family!! wash around the shower quickly afterwards!! These things are very contageous so when your changing your bedding do it gently so you dont get any eggs airborn! At the end of the day, it may be easier to tell you parents, apparently 30-40% of children have them and most people do not even know they've got them They are not serious, just annoying and not very nice to think about, the infection doesnt exactly get worse so its not like if you leave it it'l get worse. Some better advice, if you have access to buy online, buy treatment from an online pharmacey, the pills are extremely cheap and will most likely be delivered discreetly theres nothing you can eat to get rid of them as your body has no natural defence against them!
