whichwayisup
About 2 hours ago I ate a very spicey malaysian soup - Shrimp, chicken, noodles. Whatever spice was in it, I'm feeling it now, BIG TIME. I've taken 2 Rolaids, and am drinking gingerale too. Seems that's not enough and I'm feeling that hot spicey in my chest and my tummy. AND I DON'T LIKE IT!! Akkkkkk! I need some help on how to get rid of this feeling! Anybody know a quick fix other than me pounding back Rolaids? Thanks inadvance.
BeFree
Poor thing....You may have to see a doctor and get something stronger. Last time that happened to me, it lasted for three weeks until I went to the doctor. Never eaten anything spicy since.
Author whichwayisup
Well, the last time I had this soup, it was spicy and I liked it. Didnt' have the feelings I'm having now. I don't know - Maybe my friend made it more spicer or something. I actually have a HUGE phobia about throwing up, and I kind of feel like I might. I hope not, seeing as my hubby is going in to work soon and I'll be on my own... Maybe some yoghurt will help??
933KJL
I think you are pregnant! Happy Mother's Day!
Outcast
You're fine. Have some crackers maybe and some milk and wait for it to pass. You won't be sick. You might get a bit of 'backup' but it'll go back down. You might want to check out stronger heartburn medicine next time you're at the drugstore in case you get another attack. Author whichwayisup
LOL! I think not. Had some yoghurt, hopefully it will help. If it doesn't I'll just sit here and complain in this post about how crappy I feel!
kitten chick
What's wrong with the Rolaids?
HokeyReligions
Do you have any Maloxx or Pepto? You need something that will coat-yer-throat as my doctor put it. Zantac or Pepsid may help, but they will take 30 minutes - at least in 30 minutes you'll feel better. Do you still have your gallbladder? I hope you feel better soon - I know that feeling and I can empathize.
Author whichwayisup
What's wrong with the Rolaids? uhhmm, how many are you allowed to take within an hour's span?? Pepto? Oh yeah! Definately, I do have that pink stuff! Thanks! I hope you feel better soon - I know that feeling and I can empathize. Thanks Hokey. It sucks though eh? Oh and I do still have my gallbadder. kitten chick
uhhmm, how many are you allowed to take within an hour's span?? Oh, gotcha I think pepcid works pretty well. If it's something that is continual and not just a one time thing, then you might want to consider going on a prescription for a few months. I know people who have developed esopogeal (sp?) cancer from acid reflux and it scared me into starting a prescription. I was on it for two months and my acid reflux disappeared for years. I highly recommend it.
Author whichwayisup
I haven't felt like this, ever. I can handle some spicey stuff...I guess maybe the soup had TOO much Malaysian spice in it and it's been a while since I've ate it. I doubt this is long term. f***, I certainly hope not! kitten chick
If it's not something you experience daily then don't worry too much about it. When I eat something really red these days like tomato sauce or lots of peppers I still get acid reflux and like pepcid or rolaids. Pepcid is stronger though. I would try that. I would also stay away from dairy products as it creates phlegm which will agitate your esophagus. Also you're supposed to stay away from caffiene but I forget why.
933KJL
You know, I just googled this, and it is sort of rare, but symptoms eerily similar can be brought on my an overabundance of cunnilingus. Just a thought.

No flem. Yeah I won't be drinking coffee. That's a given. All I need to have to a caffiene induced anxiety attack!
Fun2BMe
Yogurt is a natural cure instead of medicating yourself. It has live cultures that are removed from all the other overprocessed foods we eat without which we get acid reflux. Here's another trick to prevent the heartburn/acid reflux/gas/bloating Drink 2-4 tablesppons of organic apple cider vinegar before a heartburn provoking meal.
