Why do People think Women without kids are bad???

Recommended Posts

Today, about 70 percent of married mothers are employed. Can't find stats on married mothers for 1952, but only 30 percent of women worked at that time.

look CHUMP...we're not talking about working moms here. We're talking about societies expectations of women having children.

Well, ofcourse. If men could reproduce, and actually become pregnant, then this wouldn't BE such an issue now, would it?

Alpha, this is what you said:

Men are expected to hold down a job and make money and women are expected to get married and reproduce.

Isn't that the same as saying women aren't expected to earn a paycheck / make money?

And I think those stats show that things have changed a lot in the past 10 decades.

No... men are expect to work and women are expected to marry/reproduce IN ADDITION to whatever else they do. Do you understand now CHUMP?!?

No Alpha, I don’t understand. Spell it out for me again. I disagree with you so that means I must have a low IQ.

/sarcasm

I think men feel a lot of pressure to reproduce as well. I know a few married guys who also take heat from their impatient parents about having kids. Sometimes I think parents just expect to have grandchildren. They think it’s a right or something.

Alot of people do expect that because alot of people refuse to change the way that they look at things as times change. This world changes everyday.

I'm sorry, but here, I actually agree with Alpha.

Society's expectation is that men work (and that women have babies). I don't think society cares as much if women go to work after having babies as they used to (although I got a lot of flack for it 25 years ago - but that's another story).

Men do, however, still get a lot of flack if they don't work and stay home with the children. They are viewed as "lesser" by society and by other men (and a lot of women). I remember a few posts on LS in fact, regarding men not working and/or their wives making more money. The posts were not favorable. Society may be changing with respect to women working, but it hasn't changed very much in respect to men NOT "bringing home the bacon".

Hopefully we will continue to make changes to respect all different kinds of lives and families, but with every step forward it seems we take at least a half a step backwards, so the change is slooowwwww.

Maybe it's just the area I live in. Almost every woman / mother I know in real life is a professional. The dads are as well, and most couples have fairly equitable parenting duties.

Seriously, my doctor, my kids' doctor, our vet, our dentist and even the kids' orthodontists are ALL women. And I know a few stay-at-home dads as well. Based on some of the attitudes I've seen at LS, I am sure THAT topic goes over like a lead balloon!

I didn't have my child until I was 30 years old. Before that, I truly was happy and content with my life. I decided that I wanted a child and BOOM, the next month I was pregnant...talk about fertile! I only had the one and I love her more than life but I was also happy before her. Kids are a huge responsibility and they take almost every free moment of your time. I cannot imagine life without my daughter now, she brings so much unconditional love and happiness to my life. I probably would have remained happy without a child but it was a choice that I made. That is exactly the point, it is YOUR choice and no one should pressure you into anything that you do not want. You can travel and do so many things without a child...so just enjoy your life and don't worry about what others think.

There is something very unnatural about women (and men) who do not want children and/or pets. I try to avoid them at all costs as they are usually control freaks.

It's a personal choice, and i don't see anything wrong with it. I wanted a child more than anything, and even though she drives me crazy at times, i love her more than life itself.

My MM and his W never wanted kids. Then she was fast approaching 30 and decided she wanted one. He went along with it, now they have 2, and he couldn't be happier with his decision. Sometimes you change your mind, sometimes you don't, but either way, you're not a bad person because of it.

Cuddlycuddlebum,

This coming from someone who lets her male partner slap her in the face with his wiener. Yeah, you got some merit around here:laugh:

and wouldn't this world be so dreadfully boring if we all had the same traits, the same wants, desires and the same personalities. Everyone is different and that's what makes life grand. That was an incredibly insensitive statement. People do what they want to do in life, and making the decision to have no children is a very mature decision. I know many people who don't have children and i gotta tell ya..sometimes I envy their freedom, but I wouldn't have my life any other way. I think the control freak is someone that slaps you in the face with their penis. I would avoid THAT person at all costs!! I mean REALLY!!!

What's the point of coming on this site, putting yourself out there and sharing embarassing and even despicable secrets, if people like you continue to throw it back at their faces. Very foul.

What's wrong with kinky sex anyways?

I can assure you there is nothing unnatural about me and I am a woman with no children or pets. I love them both. I am trying to adopt a dog right now. I am more on the submissive side and definitely not a control freak. I do hope all people who feel the way you do about people like me will jump off a bridge to avoid me.

CCB, I'm glad you avoid 'people like us' as we 'control freaks' don't need people like you around us.

We control NOT to have ignorance in our lives.

I also hate it when people would say stupid stuff to me like "Whose going to take care of you in your old age"? As if that's a reason to have a child. How selfish and poor kid. Anyway, if so many people were taking care of their elder parents the nursing, retirement and convalescent homes wouldn't be so overcrowded.

I don't trust our government will have enough to take care of me in my old age. But that's a good one...

I think those who say stuff like that mean physically care for you. I thought about this and I don't think that that's a good reason to have a child either.

Yeah, that's NOT a reason to have children, so they can look after you when you're older. Ha, just because you have kids, doesn't mean that they're going to be around to look after you. Many kids DO, but there are many who don't and move on with their lives and don't look back. No guarantee at all.

I've had someone say that to me as well, and honestly why worry about it now?? I'm 35 years old and have enough issues and worries in my life. Last thing I need to worry about is WHO is gonna change my "diapers" when I'm OLD and a fossle!

Really, people should do their best to plan for their own retirement instead of creating their own personal wait staff. They should sack up and take responsibility for themselves instead of expecting someone else to do it.

At the end of our lives, we're surrounded by the people we loved, not the people who loved us, because those are the people who will miss us. People who have kids for selfish reasons are going to be very unpleasantly surprised when their kids treat them with exactly the same courtesy and care they recieved from them.

Excuse me, but it obviously wasn't a secret or she wouldn't have told it in the first place. She was being judgemental and insulting and was unfair to the poster in the first place.
