Can anyone explain this guy's behaviour?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I'm 17 and there's a guy at school who also plays basketball at the same club as I do. I don't really see him there though. At school I only catch him in between classes because I don't have any classes together with him. So now here's the deal.

I don't get him, I've been trying to figure out whether he likes me or he can't stand me. Because half the time he ignores me, and half the time he just keeps looking at me, not taking his eyes off of me.

For example.

It was recess and I was heading to the cafeteria with a friend because I was hungry. So he was sitting with his friends somewhere. They were all talking. When I walked in he looked at me, and he didn't take his eyes off of me. I kept glancing at him a few times to see whether he was still looking and he was. He looked me straight into my eyes. When my friend and I left the cafeteria I turned around to see whether he was still looking, and he still was.

When I pass him by in the corridor I just smile but he looks away. I don't it. Why does he stare at me or ignore me? It doesn't make sense. So this has been going on for about three weeks and it's driving me mad.

He's always acts so tough and macho, he never smiles. He's sixteen you know, so he has this stupid idea he has to act all tough and mean. Yet sometimes he seems shy. It's weird, I know.

I was sort of giving up on figuring this guy out but today he was different. He actually, sincerely smiled at me. A real smile, not a fake one. Usually I'm the one who just smiles though this time he was the one smiling at me.

Though nothing changed really, he still ignores/stares at me.

I don't really know him that well, and I can't say I have a crush on him but I guess you could say he sparks my interest. So what do you guys think? Anyone, any ideas why he's acting like this?

Thanks you

Bye <3 Annie

Someone might have told him a common wisdom among guys, which is that one way to get with a girl is to kind of ignore her and act completely unimpressed. As in, this is better than if a guy acts overly enthusiastic which makes him look like a sucker. Partially ignoring girls that like you is known to drive girls crazy.

But if I were you (disclaimer: I've never been a teen girl) I'd probably wait for him to make the move, it's his to make, and you don't want to seem overly enthusiastic. Plus there's the possibility he's trying to play your emotions (the ignoring) in which case I'd say let the ballsy younger guy come get you, if he really wants you

This is going to sound very sexist, and im sorry, but it's the truth.

Guys who play/watch basketball, think the WNBA, and girls playing ball in general, is gross.

Maybe that's the reason?
