relention
Hey, I've put on weight since moving out of home and im really not happy with it, I'm not overweight but ive lost some of that confidence. I try diets etc but i can never stick to them! I love my cereals, breads, potatoes and rice (which seem to be the foods you shouldnt eat) Ive a very fussy eater and I dont like vegetables or salads (my downfall) I'm up for trying some exercise. I currently cycle to work 3/4 times a day which is 40mins per day that I go to work. I dont feel it doing much though Im 5ft 7 1/2 and im 10stone 3 pounds. I know im not overweight but I really want to go down to 9 stone (no lower!) Its mainly my stomach I want to get rid of! Any tips for exercise and any sort of healthy eating that I could do that would be convient? Thanks

Any tips for exercise and any sort of healthy eating that I could do that would be convient? Thanks Can you eat yogurt? That's supposedly very healthy for you. As far as the stomach, are you familiar with crunches? You can look pretty good by doing 3 sets of 10 daily. Usually, depending on your muscle tone, you can have pretty good definition within a week or two.

Outcast
You can't stuff your face all day and expect not to get fat. You don't eat vegetables instead of bread to not get fat, you eat them for your whole body's sake and for your health. Learn to love vegetables and salad. Find some good dressings or dips that don't have tons of calories and put them on the vegies and salads. If you don't learn to eat better, your health will suffer in the long run so you might as well learn now while you're young. Maybe the way your vegies were prepared put you off. Try them raw or steamed or nuked.
amaysngrace
Maybe the way your vegies were prepared put you off. Try them raw or steamed or nuked. Or with olive oil and garlic sauteed. It's actually pretty healthy for you too.

Usually, depending on your muscle tone, you can have pretty good definition within a week or two. There is no such thing is spot reducing. The only thing crunches will do is develop better abs. its not going to make the fat magicaly disappear. If you want to lose fat you need to create a negetive energy balance. You can create it by eating mcdonalds all day if you like, but buttom line there has to be a negetive energy balance. of course by eating healthy lean foods you can eat more for less calories which helps alot... not to mention health reasons. Exercise is a good booster for fatloss, but unless you are doing very large amounts of cardio (hours and hours everyday) its not going to make you lose 1 stone anytime soon.... Any tips for exercise and any sort of healthy eating that I could do that would be convient? Thanks As long as more calories are burned than brought in, you should be alright - and will be able to shed some weight. (Give it time though). I personally would recommend taking Hoodia, which is a natural african cacti. Due to a lack of food in some parts of Africa, Hoodia is ingested to quell the pangs of hunger. You can go down to your local GNC if you have one; there is also a 30 day money back guarantee; if you're unsatisified, you know what to do! I would also recommend (consult your physician first) taking ephedrine (can be sold legally as a bronchodilator; not as a diet product), and stacking it with caffeine pills. Also, working out (light cardio) in the morning, and before you go to bed will help jumpstart your metabolism. (During the day of course, as well as while you're sleeping). Hope it works out for you! Dawn82
I generaly don't suggest going overboard on the supplements. the purpose is to create new eating habits that will last for the rest of your life... No point in losing fat quiekly just to regain it a year or 2 later is there?... Myself I am getting close to the 40lbs mark of weight lost and considering I've added a good bit of muscles in the last 6 months I'd say its safe to guess close to 50lbs of fat lost... My supplements are/were : Omega3/Vitamin C/Multi vitamin. I did take protein shakes for a while but cut that out due to bad taste... nowdays don't take any supplements on a regular basis. Shahar. Candied-Heart
As long as more calories are burned than brought in, you should be alright - and will be able to shed some weight. (Give it time though). I agree w/ Stupid_Dummy. You have to lower your caloric intake and increase your exercise regime like others have mentioned. Another excellent way to lose the extra weight is to do some weight lifting, in the long run this is what counts, the more lean muscle you use and gain the more likely your body will use your 'fat' for energy. I use 5lb dumbells and focus on one half of the body per workout, leaving at least 24hrs for the muscles to recouperate. It takes time to lose the weight you've gained. But it's going to last a lot longer if you do it right! I would also recommend (consult your physician first) taking ephedrine (can be sold legally as a bronchodilator; not as a diet product), and stacking it with caffeine pills. I was just wondering what stacking meant?
Tasteslikechicken
"I would also recommend (consult your physician first) taking ephedrine (can be sold legally as a bronchodilator; not as a diet product), and stacking it with caffeine pills" This is the worset advice I've seen given. Suggesting a beginner to consult their doc about the possibility of taking eph and stacking with caffeine is just plain wrong, I'm sorry. These products aren't magic pills and need to be treated with respect. To give you an idea, eph is a central nervous system stimulant and, increases your metabolism by about 3%. Some of the side effects of this drug are: anxiety, shaking, increased sweating, lightheadedness, dizziness, light headache, gastrointestinal distress, insomnia, irregular heartbeat, increased heart rate, heart palpitations, inreased blood pressure, stroke, seizures, psychosis etc..people who are easily depressed should be on a watch out because the eph will increase their depression. You can also get a wired feeling when you take it, but this goes away soon. Increased sweating/heat production means you need to drink more water. People with a history of heart problems should just keep away from eph. Moreover, ephedrine can be addictive if taken for more than 6 months. Increased sweating/heat production means you need to drink more water. What you need is a calorie controlled diet with fruits, veg, complex carbs and protein and a good training program. Eating bread, potatoes etc is ok as long it's low gi. Low gi is basically low glycaemic foods more can be read here http://www.diabetes.org.uk/eatwell/meal_planning/gi.htm but basically they're slow release carbs, giving your body sustained energy over a longer period of time and can help control your appetite by making you feel fuller for longer. Little and often is the key. I personally would ignore supplements for the moment, get your diet sorted as this is the key, then after that you can look to introduce supplements. But remember there is no such thing as a wonder pill or supplement, it's going to take allot of hard work and dedication to get where you want to get. To take the boredom out of trying to loose weight, have a cheat day once a week, something to aim at, this is where you can have something that you really like to eat that's perhaps not so good for as means of a reward. Don't fall into the trap that most do, with these fad diets and when you don't see results you stop and revert back to your old ways. This is not an over night process, trust me and this is coming from someone who was the opposite, very skinny and wanted to gain weight and have a body women would look at open mouthed and say wow, years later, although not skinny and in better shape than 9 out of 10 that I see on the street, still not happy and still working hard to get where I need to. Good luck

Yeah I'm pretty sure Stupid_Dummy made it clear by all the Underlining that she wasn't pushing it on someone or giving false information. I'm not saying that reccommending a begginner take Ephedrine is right, but the after effects of taking Ephedrine are correct and right for Stupid_Dummy to raise them.. It will help you not only lose weight but stave off apetite too. Doctors commonly reccommend their patients small doses of this drug to help severley overweight people and it does work. The side effects you listed.. most are uncommon and only present based on overdose [NB- Overdose doesn't mean death.. you can overdose of coffee and simply suffer a headache]. The general side effects people experience whilst taking Ephedrine is a euphoric feeling, Insomnia, Headache, and commonly heart palpitations. Things like Seizures, heart attacks and Psychosis were shown to have been present where young girls and other takers were taking far too much a day, usually without proper fluid intake. PS. Nobody alluded to Ephedrine being a magic pill.

And nor was I, but having worked in the fitness industry and been part of it for many years, too many people wanting to loose weight look for something that will give them instant results, when IMO it's always best to get a good level of understanding of diet/training and do this for a while over jumping straight into taking things like eph. IMO the orignal post, dosen't suggest a real weight issue, problematic enough to warrant eph. A mere change of habit to diet and starting training would be enough. I don't think the doc would suggest eph on this occassion anyway. Sorry if my original post sounds harsh.

Any tips for exercise and any sort of healthy eating that I could do that would be convient? Thanks Ok HI!! I'm not familiar with measurements in STONES... but my doctor prescribed Bontril appetite sepressant. MAN! I've taken it 2 months I've gotten compliments that I'm losing weight, (of course I know it but didn't realize it was showing that good!).. My cost was $26.53 at my pharmacist. You HAVE to eat proper! Exercise to tone up.. I haven't exercised daily and I seem to be doing good!! Eating veggies fruits, are the best diet. I add chicken. my stomach doesn't tolerate beef and pork very good so I eat very little of those each month. Watch the cheese!! Watch the P.B.. althought PB on a spoon instead of bread? Fills your tummy. I personally don't crave pasta, potatoes or grains. So I pretty uch eliminate them. You can add SOME to your meal but not HEAPED on of course! Not loadedwith butter or sauces.. THATS your weight problem; With my taking anti-depressants for 5 years I tacked on 60 some pounds!! Yikes! I have lost 25 in 3 months on Bontril and I now weigh 248. I'm 5'8" tall. I'm 50. Most of it is on my butt and thighs. I had total knee replacement surgery 4 months so I'm not walking much and so the weight isn't coming off like I would like... and I'm not toning up you see but I will. Just my suggestions.. but good luck on the Bontril.. you don't get hunger pains at all!!! Karie from Iowa
