Bogun
If you have an interview at a large corporation and are unsuccessful in getting the job, does it mean that you are wasting your time by applying for other jobs at the same company further in the future? I know that in rejection emails/letters they give the standard "we encourage you to apply for other positions in the future", but do the people in HR that do the initial screening of applications, really give people a second chance if they know that they've applied unsuccessfully in the past? I have never tried it but why not. You have nothing to lose. Maybe you just weren't qualified for that one position in particular, but you may be qualified for another position in that company. Go for it.
Taressa
Hi Bogun, If you were gracious during the rejection you may actually be able to relay that relationship into a helpful one. It wouldn't hurt to ask the person you interviewed with if you can check back with them from time to time. A recruiter once told me that the person who usually gets the job is the person who most wants the job. If you make it clear you are interested in this company by giving it a second try it may be a foot in the door. People are flattered when you show interest in them - same thing goes when you show appreciation or interest in their company. Best luck. Hang in there and find the job you really want. JCD
I applied for a position I was inexperienced at, according to them, then applied at the same company for a different job and I got that one and it turned out that this job is much better than the one I was after originally. So I lucked out and you might too.
jerbear
I usually do some research on the company by reading it's annual report, 10K, 10Q, business lines, and some history about the company. Sometimes applying for multiple positions is good only if you have some qualifications. If one applies every year, there should be some improvement in their career process. New projects, promotion, educational achievement, certifications, etc... A good cover letter is required. Another thing is a reevaluation of the resume or your CV.
littlekitty
Of course you should!! I applied for a position at my current company, went through 2 interviews and was turned down for the position. Got the usual, we'll keep your CV on file stuff... and thought.. 'yeah.. right'! 2 weeks later, I get a call from them asking me to come in for a different position. Turns out they thought I was over qualified for the role I went for, and that they thought my personality would really suit a role they knew was coming up, but couldn't previously mention. Needless to say I got the second position and have now been here 5 years! *for my sins!!*
lexlex
There is always a second chance its how you take the chance or how you use your second chance, At 12 i was almost a teenager, at 21 I had grown more mature at 30 I had enetered a new phase of my life. at 40 they said it had just began now I am 56 I look back at and realize its no over, I am just changing more slowly, ganining more knowledge. There is always a second chance its how you perceive that you are successful and with whom, you can only chnage yourself not others. But on saying this its amazing how others see you and you dont realize it!!!!!!!! Its how you react when you know what others think and this is the second chance. God Knows and does want to bless you If you have an interview at a large corporation and are unsuccessful in getting the job, does it mean that you are wasting your time by applying for other jobs at the same company further in the future?
