We met through a work-related convention.....truly a case of love at first sight...maintained close contact with emails and calls....met again about 6 weeks later....knew that it was something real....and since Feb have seen eachother about every 3 weeks!! He has been able to make frequent trips here thankfully. I just got home from meeting him at another work event in MD for the past 3 days. We are totally in love with eachother.....but due to work commitments we have to plan carefully how to make his move over to the US.....as it turns out Im starting a business which he will figure into in the coming months while he ties up loose ends in the UK. My problem is that its unbearable when we are apart. Our monthly ph bills are outrageous, so we decided to limit to one call a day. I hate him not being here with me all the time.......any advice on how to deal with it, and opinions from others who have been in similar relationships? Can they really work? I think that you two gotta plan about sms, calls mails letters etc in a more diplomatic way..think that if he saves more money, he will b able to visit u more often. think in similar ways. gud luk. TDX Posted July 9, 2006 Share Posted July 9, 2006 I know this is a slightly older thread, but it seems like we are all in the same boat =). You are very lucky to see your partner frequently enough. I have been going on and off with my LDR for 3 years now and finally decided to go steady last month. Yes it can work! it just takes alot of trust and frequent communication (but not too constant_) you don't want to burn each other out, especially if the other half is working on an important project or somethng else. You both need to set goals and a general schedule for when its free to call. When I said goals I meant for the long term side of things. Link to post Share on other sites
