I'm a bit concerned because some red "hives" seem to have broken out on my torso region- my chest and stomach mostly. I'm hoping it's just a minor allergic reaction (can't imagine to what though) or a case of contact dermatitis (maybe to a detergent or something?) Or maybe it's the sudden heat up here and it's from sweating?

Anyone else have any ideas? They're noticeable but not super red, spread out, don't seem to be getting much worse. I'm confused because I rarely have reactions to things. My only known allergies (besides pollens and the like) are raw fish and loratadine (Claritin).

I have no known allergies. But I broke out with a horrendous case of hives that would not quit!

Last summer.

I had to go to a doctor to get a prescription for steriods (something called something like a medrol medpak?). i had to take 'em for a week.

I got them after visiting my MIL's home with is filthy and she has rodents.

Long story short, I was there to remove her from squalor.

The doctor figured I got bit by mites or something.

It took about a month for the episode finish.

But noting I tried until I started the prescription worked at all. And i tried all of 'em. Cortaid, claritin, etc.

The hives started and would fade in one spot and erupt elsewhere. but got increasingly worse with multiple hives welts starting all over the place at once.

Could be a heat rash or even an allergy...

Benedryl (sp?) may give you some relief, but it takes a while to work... try not to scratch- it will make it worse....

They don't itch though. It's just like little red blotches. Very strange. I think I'll try some Benadryl.

I get this from time to time. For me its usualy from sweating and wearing to tight of pants around my torso. My skin gets irratated. It should go away in a day or two if you don't irratate the skin in that area.

This probably not what's happening, but worth checking out........HSP (henoch sholein purpura-and I'm absolutely spelling it wrong!). My son had this a few years back.....it started on his torso (we thought it was hives at first) and the blotches ended up on his legs. HSP is kind of like inner bruises manifesting itself into 'bruises' you can see on your skin.

It's not contagious and usually goes away on it's own.

Has anyone heard of 5ths disease? I had when I was about 10 or so. It is red splotchy patches all over your body and it is really nothing more than that. I think maybe you could run a fever with it, but I didn't. I didn't feel anything other than embarressment from looking like a red cheeta. Maybe this is what you were talking about Climber?

How old are you KM? Most allergies don't develop until your mid to late 20's. I was never allergic to anything until I turned like 26 or 27. If you are in this age range you may be developoing an allergy to something new.

I had this as a preteen. I got this crazy webbed rash on my arms and legs. It was kinda cool.

Could be. I wasn't allergic to raw fish until my late teens (which hamstringed my love of sushi and sashimi fairly well- thank god for the vegetarian sushi movement). But I'm starting to think it's a heat rash that's just taking its time to fade on my pale skin.

You really ought not try to get diagnoses from strangers on the Internet. The safest thing is to go see an actual doctor.

Well, some of us *are* actual doctors.

I was just waiting for her to post a pic. :)
