I try not to live above my means, but I do like nice things, that's one of my downfalls. And since I don't drink beer (I don't like the taste) it's more expensive for me to party because I'm buying the mixed drinks, but it's just what I prefer. Maybe I'll just HAVE to acquire a taste for beer, lol.

You know what? Try doing without even things you can afford. One of the best times in my life was when I was living on my own as a university student. My folks didn't have money to pay my way; I had to pay it all - tuition, rent, food - the works. I remember once I couldn't buy a chocolate bar because it meant I couldn't buy milk for the week. What I found out was that I could be perfectly happy with less. What I also found out later was that when you can spend whatever you want, it stops being fun.

Now I take my lunch and snacks to work every day, walk to work most days or take the bus, and wait for sales to buy most of my clothes. I can afford to spend more, but now when I do spend money on myself, it's fun and a treat.

Yes!!

I found the same. And there was an added benefit, since I learned to live on little, I kept that kind of responsible spending habit as I got older and earned more income. Until I found myself sitting on excess cash I never spent!
