Joe
Tony, Thanks for your reply to my earlier thread about my weight problem and my man-boobs. I have been doing something about my weight for over a year now. A year ago I weighted 288 pounds, this at the age of 19. 288, that's nothing but pure fat. A year ago I began watching what I eat, not eating fast food and eating healthy foods. Not drinking pop, but water and juice rather. Now I am 20 and I am down to 216, somewhere in that general area anyways. However, my "man-boobs" seem to be the same size as they were when I was 288 and because of that I have became very unmotivated about my diet. While I still watch what I eat, I don't walk everynight like I use to and I'm embarassed about them. I wear oversized clothes to hide them, don't feel good about them and they just stick out. My mom said I had to weight lift to get rid of them. However at my job, as a TV Photographer, lifting is all I do for 8.5 hours a day. My gear bag alone that I carry weighs at least 30 lbs, plus my tripod so by the time I get home I'm tired of lifting. You mentioned gynecomastia, I am getting ready to do some research on this as soon as I'm done typing this and perhaps will make an appointment with my doctor next week. My weight has everything to do with being anti-social. If you are embarassed with your weight, then being in public is the last thing you want. Funny, here I am in public everyday with all my gear. Funny thing is I'm not bothered by it at all, I love it. But thank you for your post, you have indeed created a hopeful future and perhaps will have given me the answer to what may be wrong with me, gynecomastia. I will try to get to the doctor next week, and when I do and results get back I will keep you posted. Joe
Tony T
I did NOT diagnose you with anything. I only suggested that gynecomastia could be the problem and often is with overweight men. Getting yourself checked out by a doctor is a very good idea. Keep in mind that when we lose weight, we lose in certain areas of our body before others. It could very well be that your breast area will be one of the later things to go. That should motivate you to stay on your diet. Staying away from soda is great and drinking juices is good but even keep the juices in moderation. They contain lots of carbohydrates, complex sugars, which turn into fat later. (Read the labels). Water is the safest thing you can drink and drink lots of it during your diet. A diet is not a temporary thing. It's a way of life. Don't put yourself in jeopardy of gaining back all your weight. Make your diet fun and a healthy way of eating that you can follow all the days of your life.
