How were you ripped off ?

Maybe they sensed that you were not a good fit into their business.

I think if someone feels " ripped off " because of a business decision then they were not right for that job anyhow..

Well.. maybe it was for the best. it is my opinion that someone more interested in taking a vacation shows that they migh not have had the company in their sites to begin with.

When it is right you won't care if you go on vacation.

Well that's your opinion isn't it? I'm sensing your an employer yourself????

Anyway, what's done's done. I didn't get it, I'm still going on holidays on the 12th August and I still have a job at present.

I'm over it. There's plenty more opportunities out there.

Thanks for your advice anyway! :)

I'm not sure why having a pre-booked holiday and not wishing to cancel it simply because she's changing jobs some how makes her a 'bad' employee?

It's simply bad timing and not her fault. I wouldn't want to work for you! It's quite usual to check when hiring a new employee if they have any outstanding obligations when taking them on. What if she had her wedding planned? Should she be willing to cancel that for a job too?!
