Teacher's Pet
....my 35th birthday. Until about 20 minutes ago, I had nothing to look forward to except a day of feeling sorry for myself, wondering if my ex (33 days since breakup, 27 NC) will at least call me to wish me a Happy Birthday (her's was 4 days before the breakup, and I really went out of my way for her)......ANYHOW... A local pub I've been trying to get a p/t job in called me. Apparently, they are in a bind for tomorrow night and want to give me a shift there. Kind of like an audition. You do well, you get more shifts in the future, and perhaps a permanent position..... Ahh, the life of a bartender..... Well, the manager told me to come in at 7pm, but then called back to tell me to come in at 11am to meet the owner, "but come prepared to work, just in case he wants you to work tomorrow".... At the very least, I'll get a future opportunity to work at this VERY popular bar, and at best, 9 hours of hard labor which will get my mind off of other things, and perhaps put $200-$300 in my pocket..... Well, at least I have something to look forward to on my birthday. Maybe it's a sign of things to come..... I've seen Cocktail...bartenders get all the chicks... (actually, I haven't worked in a bar in 10 years, I just finished a refresher course at the local bartending school to get back up to speed, but I'm ready for battle!) So if anyone's thirsty.... pull up a stool and I'll make it a double. -tp
Tony T
Well, HAPPY BIRTHDAY! In less than 15 minutes (Eastern US Time) you will be eligible to run for president of the United States!!! Have you given that any thought?
Author Teacher's Pet
Actually, yes I have. Been thinking about that a long time. Of course, I'd run as an Independent. I don't agree with Democrats on 90% of the issues, but I'm too "wild" to run as a Republican. While the average Republican would agree with my views (war on terror, tax cuts, etc.), I'm too much the "loose cannon" to take seriously. All night keggers on the White House lawn (yes, I'd let Ted Kennedy come as long as he leaves his keys with someone), wet t-shirt contests (no, Hillary may NOT participate), all-you-can-eat barbecues every Saturday afternoon, casual Fridays for Congress, televised executions (pay per view) of murderers/rapists/terrorists (with the money going to their victims), and of course, the relocation of the White House from Washington, DC, to Hackensack, New Jersey, just because Jersey ROCKS! And of course, the official designation of "Battery" by Metallica as the National Anthem (who'd mess with a country whose anthem includes the lyrics "Hungry violence seekers, feeding on the weaker")???? Yes, I've thought this through. So.... who wants to be my running mate? -tp (I., New Jersey)

Author Teacher's Pet
You know what's sad? I went totally out of my way for her birthday, which was 4 days before our breakup. Today is my birthday, and you'd think she'd at least WISH me a Happy Birthday. I have to admit, out of everything, that's what REALLY hurts the most. -tp
