Pink Amulet
I have started reporting for a local television news station here and will soon be doing the occasional live to air piece to camera broadcast (yay ). It is a standard requirement to have professionally whitened teeth as a part of TV presentation grooming. So I had them bleached on Wednesday. Now, I am in agony. I can't eat or drink anything that isn't room temperature. Has anyone else had their teeth professionally whitened? Did you experience sensitivity? How long did it last? Outcast
There are toothpastes that help tooth sensitivity. For some reason, the first time I visited New York City, I found myself suffering from sensitive teeth. Used the toothpaste and it worked like a charm. I've never had sensitivity since! I have had my teeth bleached, but not in the dentist's office. He made stints for me and gave me bleach applicators to fill the stints with. The first time out, I had to wear the things overnight - yeuck. But they worked. The bleaches are really good these days. A few days of 45 minutes a day in stints and the stains are gone again. So if you need to do it again in a year or so, maybe check into the bleach kits that dentists sell. It takes a few days, but if you start as soon as you notice some staining, you can catch it fast. Author Pink Amulet
Hmmm, well I don't drink coffee or smoke, so my teeth were pretty white to start with. The dentist did not have to apply the bleach for long, otherwise they would be paper white. Yuck. Apparently it just looks better on television. Anyway, I will check out the sensitive toothpaste. Do you just buy yours at the supermarket? Just out of interest, how much did the bleach kits from the dentist set you back?
Outcast
Yep, the toothpaste is available at grocery stores and drugstores. If you ask a pharmacist, you'll be told the brand name. Or if you watch TV you'll see ads - they seem to be on all the time. Last touch-up kit I bought included 6 vials of the bleach for about $40.00. I go through maybe a half a vial each time I do a touch-up so it lasts quite a while.
