Throwing the towell!! need . :)

Recommended Posts

Ok,

I am soo pissed off right now, this post might turn into a rant but in the end i need the support from anyone.

I was on a good course of going to teh gym, I started at 240 LBs and now I am at 220lbs within 3 months. But the thing that is holding me back is my eating habbits. I am soo annoyed at my eating habbits and I cannot control them. When I go near mcdonalds its almost as I leave my body and it controls me.

It's like i am on drugs. The things i get more annoyed with me is that I know it is my eating habbits that are getting in the way but yet I cant discipline myself.

I just dont get it, I can not control my eating habbits at all. Maybe i should just stop going to the gym cause what is the point of me going when I am eating like a pig.

maybe I am a pig, man i hate this.

Need help.

I can so relate to what you are saying. I am also hopelessly addicted to food and I have many set backs. Bad habits are hard to break. It's much easier to replace them with better habits. For example can you go to Mc'Ds and order one of their salads instead. If that's too hard start off by buying a smaller burger, Buy the burger and just eat the meat, throw away the bun.

Remember babies learn to walk by crawling 1st, then wobbly steps before they ever get to running. In the long run it is life style changes you want to make and not just a number on the scale that you want to reach. Make small changes. Switch to sugar free, drop one trigger food each week. And dont beat yourself up for a weak moment.

Slow and steady wins the race!

or, if you cannot give up the burger, see if you can substitute a side salad for the fries, and get a non-sugary drink to complete the meal. I know Dairy Queen lets you do the salad swap thing, and it's great because it's a balanced meal.

I wish I hung on to the Curves book I found at the second-hand store, there was an explanation about how our bodies go into conservation mode when we diet. Something about using energy from muscles, rather than fat, to keep the body running, so it seems like you're eating more to replace that fuel … that you had to alternate your diet until you conditioned your body to not go into conservation mode and the effects of your exercise and diet program would start paying off big time. Made sense when I read it.

20 lbs in 3 months is great! :bunny:

You're gonna slip occasionally, don't worry about that.

As far as McDs goes, their food really is crap though. Salad idea is good, or for fast food have you tried Wendy's chili? Certainly better and healthier than a burger. Even just eliminating the mayo on a burger helps (and forces them to make it to order, so a little fresher.) A lot of the places have grilled chicken sandwiches. If you can get that with no mayo and honey-mustard it's pretty healthy too.

Food in general; You probably like fatty stuff (no pun intended) but some extra spice might make up for the flavor in less fatty foods. Subways does good salads, throw on some hot peppers?

Also, don't worry so much about your weight as how you feel. If you're also doing it appearance, how your clothes fit matters more than pounds.

You are a 100% right. But why am I soo concerned with the change of the scale rather than the life style. I check my weight everymorning and getting kind of obsessed with the scale I have in my washroom.

I think I am working out for the wrong reasons, Not the change in lifestyle but rather my appearance. Hmmm, This is sooo hard.

If it is appearance that motivates you switch from weighing often to measuring yourself. Inches really count. Building muscle rearranges your body in ways that might not be easy to see if the scale is the only way you are judging your accomplishments. Measure your arms, shoulders, waist, hips, thighs and calves.

Hide that scale and try to weigh yourself at the most once a week. After a huge loss it is normal to stay at the same weight for weeks and still see huge changes in measurements.

I am 22 and about 5'11". (and your weight is 220).

I'm 45 yo (metabolism of a slug) and I am at 250 (down from an all time high of 368 lbs). I am 6' tall and after being morbidly obese all my life I would kill to get down to 220 and just to manage to stay there.

5'11 and 220 lbs your BMI is 30. You are only 5 lbs away (215) of having a BMI (29.9) that is considered overweight (not obese). Normal BMI for your height of 24.9 would be a weight of 179.

Now consider this, there are plenty of athletes at your height and weight who consider themselves to be extremely fit. Now as women I know we dont want to compare ourselves to football players. But when I start to really get down on myself because of the weight loss stall. I think about that. At 250 I am much more active and fit that I ever thought I could be.

You are doing awesome.

Hide that scale

amazingly enough, that's pretty much what my DOCTOR told me to do when I went for my last physical and I admitted that I don't have a scale at home. He said that when you keep up an exercise regimen and stick to a healthy eating plan, any weight loss (i.e., fat burned off) is off-set by gain from the muscles building up, because muscle is heavier than fat. According to the clinic's scale, I lost *only* a pound from my visit two months prior, but Doc told me that it felt like I was building up muscle mass, so my weight loss was actually 5-6 pounds more, which sounds about right because I fit better in certain clothes.

:p :p I told him "I might look like a sausage, but I don't feel like one in those particular clothes, so I know I'm headed in the right direction!" To which he said, don't bother with a scale because it's misleading.

if it's absolutely imperative that you trim up certain spots of your body, look for alternate workout regimens that'll isolate the part you're unhappy with.
