Darkwall
Hey LS, As you can see I have been experiencing a really uncomfortable problem. It's now crushed my confidance somewhat and I can't think about anything else. Probably because I'm starting to believe it's forever. No matter how much sleep I get or don't get, I still wake up with tired looking eyes. I guess it's called circles or bags. I've tried make up, cold water compresses, you name it, nothing works. My doctor says it may be hereditary or just the aging process kicking in. F--- him! He didn't even consider that maybe it's an allergy problem or something to do with my health. Just that I have a clean bill of health. So I ask you LS... I'm not asking for medical advice, I know that's a no no. Have any of you experienced or are experiencing the same problem? Is it hereditary? Is it an allergy problem? Is it a diet problem? I eat healthier than anyone I know and I don't drink. Is it a toxic liver? (I've heard this may be the case) (Doc says it's a gimick). Pretty please share your experience on this matter. It would help me big time. Thanks
KittenMoon
I have dark circles as well. They are mostly herditary for me. But from what I've tried/read, there are a few things you can do for them: 1) If you have allergies get meds (You may have to try a few- Allegra did nothing for me but I've gotten good results for reducing puffiness from Flonase) 2) Sleep 3) Stay hydrated And then of course there is make up. Go to a cosmetics counter and they can show you what and how to best cover them up!
Outcast
Do a search on 'allergic shiners'. I have the &^%$ things, too. Very annoying. Makeup will cover them. Supposedly frequent warm compresses should help. Don't feel bad about them - cover 'em up.
Pink Amulet
Wow- I have never heard of this being such a problem before... Have you always had dark circles? Or is this recent?
Poboy
& what to do if a guy has them ?
tinktronik
Hemorriod cream in very small amounts (like preperation H0 will tighten up bags under your eyes .I modeled for a while as a teen and this was one of our "well known secrets ") .
Walk
I have 'em too. Horrible. But no one else in my family does. I figured it was stress... I can sympathize with ya though. I feel like a freak sometimes!!
Author Darkwall
It literally looks like sacs under my eyes. As if there is almost a small indent. Make up can't cover that. At least if it was dark circles I could use make up. WHY ME? It just started this year. I didn't think this sort of thing would happen until 3/4 of the way into my life. I'm not even half way yet, what gives? Hopefully, it is something to do with allergies. At least then maybe I could improve the problem somewhat. PS... Isn't it unhealthy to use hemoroid cream everyday? anyone else have this sort of problem? Please share.
Becoming
Count me in. Rotten fair skin. And many so-called cover-ups don't work. Hydration seems to help. Allergies, sleep. I saw a new cream advertised somewhere for like $100/oz. And yeah, Prep H works, but I only use that for like job interviews, big presentations 1-2/x a year. Used cool teabags and cucumbers work for puffiness. Stress is what makes mine worse. Just plain old being too busy, not eating right, not hydrating, not sleeping well. I look like a hag. Outcast
Try warm compresses then. What I was told is that because of allergies, the sinuses swell so that the fluid, blood, whatever that's under your eyes can't drain out. Warm compresses open up whatever pathways there are so the stuff can drain. I know compresses help me when I wake up with puffy eyes. I was told to use a washrag with hot (but not burning hot) water and then hold it under the eyes for 20 - 30 seconds or so. Since your doc's already seen you and told you it's cosmetic, that's about your best bet, I think.
Heavenseventeen
The Olsen twins have them too. I think that no one will really notice, but if you start losing sleep over it then they will. It won't make you ugly- it'll make you average, just like every other person on the planet. (By average I mean "normal", but who is really normal?)
Nur
I have them too, and I'm only 19. For me they are hereditary -- but the rest of my family has dark skin, so you can't see it as well. I am some random jump back to our Irish roots, so they are rather blaring at times. I put Vitra-K lotion on every morning at night, then apply concealer. It makes me look presentable, at least. No one seems to notice, anyway, and it hasn't stopped people from telling me they thought me pretty. If you have acutal BAGS (like, hanging) below your eyes, cosmetic surgery can probably fix that. Just an option. For me, they are worse after I cry. If I fall asleep crying, I look like crap the entire next day, possibly two days. It's amazing.
