honeybunch2k5
Totally agree with Candied-Heart here. And Honeybunch, shame on you! Don't EVEN get me started on this subject! What subject? Mississippian being fat? That is the TRUTH! Thirty percent of people here are OBESE, that's right 30%. That's ridiculous. I could see someone having a few extra pounds or what not, but not to get morbidly obese. What I said is NOT an exaggeration. Come to my WalMart and you will see MANY people who are so big their bellies and boobies sag to their knees. That is the truth, that is not an exaggeration or making fun. It's actually very sad. I know good and well all these people do not have thyroid or medicines that make them big. The cause? An abundance of fast food joints, lack of healthy foods, and lack of exercise and nutrition information. Mississippi is leading the way in obese and overweight people. Or were you talking about me being called a white girl? You'll have to take that up with the people who said that to me, that is also the truth. That is NOT my opinion, just the opinion others have expressed to me. Statistical proof: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/4436638.stm
Pink Amulet
Australia isn't too far behind! Obesity rates in Australia have more than doubled over the past 20 years.
lindya
I like Lazyboy's perspective: They say we're in the middle of an obesity epidemic. An epidemic like it is polio. Like we'll be telling our grand kids about it one day. The Great Obesity Epidemic of 2004. "How'd you get through it grandpa?" "Oh, it was horrible Johnny, there was cheesecake and pork chops everywhere."

Its insane , I take my kids to the empty park in a beautiful neighborhood then you here the ice cream truck and fat kids appear from inside their homes ,where I suppose they are inundated with tv and video games ,just to buy icecream sandwiches and then dissapear back into their homes. Much better to be too thin IMO.
honeybunch2k5
I can one up you. Even the Asian kids are fat here. In general, I've noticed the Asian parents are fit and trim, the teens are a little chunky, and I've been seeing more and more supersized Asian kids.
CrushedOrgans
wow. maybe i don't like smileys and don't like to use them much. there's always a stigma, smiley included or not. if you didn't get that my first post was ironic or silly or sarcastic, so sorry. if they banned everyone who left remarks like that, with no smileys, very few people would be here, so let's not be dramatic. discriminatory? come on. anyway, i made my point. well, at least to lindya, even though you want it illustrated. it obviously went right over candied-heart's head. and touche's. here, have a bunny. all better? Mz. Pixie
My mom went through this. She was naturally skinny as was my uncle. At nine months pg with me she weighed 115. She was 5'5 or so. She ate well but then she got sick. The women at her work were all obese and made fun of her saying stuff like "Turn to the side so you'll look like a zipper" and calling her "Skeletor" and stuff like that. She WANTED to gain weight she just couldn't. It's the same as making fun of fat people- it still hurts. At her lowest she was down to 68 lbs but she gained back up when she went on steroids. I know some people have a low metabolism or thyroid problems but I detest seeing people who are so overweight their s/o has to drop them at the door at work because they can't walk the parking lot. Or the ones who ride in the wheelchairs because they are so overweight and lazy and don't want to walk.
a4a
I just went to a business lunch where my weight was made fun of. I eat like a horse, anything I want and I don't gain weight. I am the same size I was in school. I don't think I am underweight at 5'6"/5" ranging from 116 to 120ish depending on that awful aunt flow arrival. Maybe my giant boobies make me look skinnier? :p
CrushedOrgans
Maybe my giant boobies make me look skinnier? :p very possible, i know mine do. although some people say smaller people's boobs look even bigger because their body is smaller...but either way. in any case, i think people, all people, should chill out, and if you don't like how someone looks, you wanna puke when you see a fat person or eat an easter ham when see a skinny person, DON'T LOOK. DON'T MAKE IT YOUR PROBLEM. unless it's someone you know, someone you care about, or yourself, let it go. i'd rather hang out with an anorexic or a morbidly obese person who is decent than an ignorant busybody.
