Almost 50
I am nearly 50. I am male. I got divorced about 2 1/2 years ago. I never really was overweight or had a bad body, but I was noticing getting that middle love handle. Around the time of my divorce and ever since, I got back into exercising regularly. At first it was more for mental health since I found myself depressed over my divorce even though it was me that wanted it. I noticed very very slow progress over the first 2 years. I think I am a pretty typical guy in that I do not stare at myself in the mirror on a regular basis. However the other night, I happened to take a good look at myself, and MY GAWD I AM BUFF. As a young man I never had a butt-it was flat. Now I have a nice tight real butt. I really find that i would change almost nothing about my body. I am not professional weight-lifter buff, but noticable muscular and defined buff, like Bratt Pitt in Troy-type of buff. I am getting to the point where I may cut-back on the weights so that i do not become too big. Anyway, I guess it is possible, even at the ripe old age of 50 to get into the best shape of your life. Outcast
Good on ya! I think a lot of people have the mindset that after a certain age, deterioration is inevitable and they do nothing to fend it off. But as you've found, it's not necessary to fall to pieces as you age. I certainly don't plan to - I want to be healthy till the end of my days and eating well and staying fit, we're told, are the keys
Yamaha
That is a real accomplishment at 50. Many guys your age are watching their gut get bigger and bigger and have given up on having a healthy body. I guess you are never to old to get fit. What are you going to do with your buff body, since your divorced?
superconductor
Congrats on your newfound body and spirit. What was your regime like?
reservoirdog1
Kudos to you, bro. My inspiration for awhile has been that guy in the bowflex ads, on the beach -- looks like he's in his early 40s and is pretty ripped. I'm also curious... what's your program? I had a pretty good one going earlier this year but then I started a new job and my workout frequency and diet have suffered.
littlepiggy1
Nice work. Now put that buff bod to work and get yourself laid by some hot co-eds.
tanbark813
While reading that post I kept waiting for the Bowflex plug. I feel so empty and lost that it didn't happen.

taiko
Great testimony! We were at the beach and were shocked at our pictures. Her roll while I looked like I just got released from a PoW camp. I'm about 5 years behind you in age. After a couple of months my ass is tight and I can see the start of a V shape and caps on my shoulders. It is about time for me to start adding weights.
