I have been dating this guy for 8 months, he is 22 almost 23 & I am 29... up until last week i knew we had problems but nothing that couldnt be fixed & all of a sudden he ends up breaking up with me. says there was nothing wrong with the relationship & we made a good go of it but that he has to focus on his life & get it to where it needs to be.

He said he loved me & know he says he is half in love with me half confused, but that his heart isnt in the right place & that we would talk once he started getting his life where he wants it to be.

He wants to go back to being friends, but I don't see how I could be his friend again when I am completely in love with him. He doesn't even seem hurt by any of this.

Should I wait to see what happens? should I give him the space he needs? Or should I just end things with him completely, meaning the friendship.

I am at a loss & I can't get any answers from him. Anyone have any advice.

Thanks for listening

IMO it might be best to end things completely with him. Hard to say why he is feeling the way he is right now. Looks like if he truly loved you he could "get his life where he wants it to be" with you. Is he in college? He is also still kind of young. He might want to see where his head is first before pursuing anything further. I would imagaine it would be hard to be friends with someone you have been more with. I say cut the ties. Don't try to continue to be with someone who doesn't want to be with you as well.

Thanks Jade for your advice. As to him being in college, no he needs to get his GED, it is something he has put off long before he ever met me. He said he can't get his life to where it needs to be because he gets too wrapped up in the relationship. IMO it wouldn't matter if your life was together or not, if you get too wrapped up in a relationship then you would lose what you worked so hard to get
