Guest
I know someone who is recovering from multiple addictions...crack, meth, sleeping pills..etc. This person is doing very well. Tonight he talked about an annoying "zit" or bump under the skin above his nose in between his eyebrows. He explained that when you quit meth your body is trying to rid the chemical and that it (the chemical) tries to come out of your skin. This shows up as zit looking bumps. He says he wants to pick it open to let it come out..but he doesn't because it will bleed and not heal fast enough. I came home and tried looking it up on the net. I only came up with Crank bugs? The user feels like there are bugs crawling under the skin and so they pick at it and end up with lesions. He never said anything about bugs crawling (maybe he purposely left that out?) Needless to say I'm now worried he may be using. My question is...is what he said true? Also how long after you quit would you have lesions...or bumps still. Or does it only happen while you are using? Thanks so much for any info...I'm clueless about this.
Ladywithafan
...when people are high, they will, like you read, think they have bugs & start picking at moles/freckles, which then turn into open sores...I went through this with my boyfriend six years ago...what a sight...can only imagine how the pharmacist felt as I tried to describe "what he thought he had" but really didn't.... As far as chemicals coming out once you stop using them...I've seen more people with those sores who do crack...but usually they're in the heavy use period.... It's also possible that maybe because he quit using, yes, the toxins are coming out & with nothing better to do he's picking? These are just my thoughts.....

There is absolutely no such instance where your body would try to rid itself of the chemicals in drugs through your pores. If he is picking, he is using again.

I thought this was common place? Drug toxin elimination may express itself in a series of rashes as they leave the body through the skin. Same as stress etc can cause rashes etc.
CrushedOrgans
If he is picking, he is using again. maybe the picking became a habit he hasn't quite stopped yet? anyway, yuck.
Pink Amulet
No, the desire to pick (crank bugs) only occurs when you are "tweaking"... this is after a hit.
penkitten
for work, i have attended a ton of seminars about meth use and making (hud housing) from what i understand the sores are caused from the use. when you clean it, there should be no new sores. therefore new sores = new use most of these chemicals are leaving the body thru pee. WHAT YOUR FRIEND IS TELLING YOU IS TRUE.BUT ON THE OTHER HAND IT ONLY OCCURS WITHIN TWO TOO THREE DAYS AFTER USE,ASSUMING HE IS SMOKING IT. THE BUMPS ARE A "STAFF INFECTION" IT COMES FROM THE CUT THAT DEALERS PUT IN THE DRUG TO MAXIMIZE THIER PROFIT. "MSN" IS USED THE MOST.IT IS A CHEMICAL GIVEN TO HORSES FOR THIER BONE STRUCTURE AND WHEN HEATED IT WILL SMOKE LIKE METH.HOWEVER AFTER A FEW DAYS THE BODY HAS TOO RID ITSELF OF THE TOXINS THAT IT CREATES AND IT DOES THIS THROUGH THE PORES.IT LOOKS LIKE A ZIT BUT WHEN YOU TRY TO POP IT,IT WILL NOT.THE OOZE "INFECTION" IS TO THICK.IT IS BETTER LEFT ALONE.YOU CAN GET MEDICINE FROM YOUR FAMILY DOCTOR THEY WILL PROBABLY DIAGNOSE IT AS A INGROWN HAIR THAT HAS GOTTEN INFECTED.I HOPE THIS HELPS YOU AND I WISH YOU AND YOUR FRIEND THE BEST.
