Issues with my g/f

Situation: We are both sophomores in college and we go to different schools. We started dating at the end of our senior year, so we have been together for a little over a year and a half. At the end of last school year (our freshman year) it came up that she was hanging out with the one guy all the time. Not normally alone, usually in a group, but it came about that they started posting on each other's "facebook" walls like 5 times a day each. Now IDC that she has guy friends and stuff, nor do I car about the facebook thing except that she doesn't even write to me that much (sounds petty, I know, but still bugged me). The way they wrote to each other was very flirtatious, IMO, but she said she didn't mean it to be. Well, long story short, turns out this guys liked her a lot. She told him nothing could or would ever come of it. I had asked her to atleast tell him the truth in that cuz it wouldn't be right to lead him on or let him get his hopes up. Well they didn't talk like all summer, but they are back at school now, and I am at my school (we are a few hours apart) and she wants to seek him out and be friends with him again, despite the fact that it makes me feel VERY awkward and that he likes her. I don't mind that he is a guy, it just bugs me that he had a huge thing for her. Well, another long story short, she wants a break. A week long break to be specific to "figure things out". How should I take that?

 

She tells me I need help because I have trust issues and crap. I don't know. I think I believe her. I have been majorly screwed over in past relationships (ie. one time a girl started dating me just to get to my best friend cuz she liked him. another time, one got drunk at a party and slept with another guy... i had only ever kissed her once, lol). So yes, I was very wary, but I don't know if I should still be wary with her, or if a year and a half is enough time to not be cautious of her. I love her very much, but part of me just can't trust her, even if I try. I'm just so confused about this all.
