I think it has to do mostly with what someone is or is not comfortable with their SO doing. If they decide together this kind of thing is cool and something they wanna do then great. However if they feel, like I do, that noone should see me naked but my boyfriend and noone should see him naked but me then that is something that should be respected. Yes, nobody seemed to care. My g/f's were also around my b/f and his friends, naked too, and everyone else in the spa was naked as well. It was different...nobody cared.

 

I think it is a custom, or like a custom, in parts of Austria and countries in that area. I went to some hotsprings in Budapest and it was the same deal. Kind of gave me an appreciation for all body types and more of an overall acceptance.
