Tragic
I will make this brief.... Please advise me on what to do in this quagmire. I have a really close friend who is nearing 30. She is an alcoholic. She has a little boy who is 6, and is split up from the father. She recently went through a detox/rehab program (she has been through alot of them) but this time it was different. She is in danger of losing her child as everyone around her (especially the father) is sick and tired of her screwing up. She is living with her mother and her mothers boyfriend. They are drinkers as well. The mother basically accused her of being drunk a couple of nites ago (the mother was in fact drunk) and told her she doesnt want her in the house drunk. Up until that nite, she was not drinking. Now, for the past couple of days, she calls me at all hours, drunk as hell, laughing, crying, shopping for liquor, etc.... Aparently her mother has not been able to contact her for a couple of days and in turn called me, wanting to know if I knew anything about her daughter... Of course I should call, but what will any of you say if you are in the same situation?
Buttaflyy
Are you asking what you would say to the mother? I would let her know that I had spoken to my friend and that her (the mother's) drinking is affecting her daughters recovery. I'd let her know that I have a great interest in helping my friend through this and ask if she wanted the same for her. If so, maybe we could put our heads together to try and see her through it. This is what I might say if I returned the call at all. Is your friend able to get out of that enviornment? It doesn't sound healthy for anyone involved. I wish her the best! Guest
Not to be a jerk, but perhaps she should let the father be the primary custodial parent. The child needs a better environment and the mother needs to get her life together.
