lindya
NOT someone who's well-read (hell, most of us are) or addicted to Sci-fi. My name is Lindya. When conversations about any of the Star Wars films spark up, I tune out. Perhaps I'd quite enjoy them if I sat down and watched them, but I can't be arsed, and I felt the same way about the Matrix. This has created problems in past romantic relationships and resulted in the male's belief that there is a decent emotional/intellectual connection being severely reduced. I don't even care. Ripples
Geek Test Results You are 92.5% geeky. You're the ultimate geek. I'd write that in Klingon, but you'd probably correct my grammar. Get a girlfriend. The current average score is: 31.90% Fact: 8.03% of people who took this test wear a bum-bag on holiday.Errr........
lindya
92.5%, Ripples? That's disgraceful. I can only assume that you have not only attempted but actually succeeded in building a robot. Nobody can help you. Were I gay, I'd volunteer to be the girlfriend you've been instructed to get - except that I wouldn't because I know you'd force me to watch Sci Fi. Ripples
Um, I can't believe how crap I am. I'd give up SciFi for you
serial muse
Just an observation - I just noticed how this thread turned into a "me, too!" contest!! All the ladies are trying to prove themselves more geeky than the others....and then basking in the thought that they're a sizzling combo of sexy and geeky yes, well, welcome to the internet. someone posts a test and other people take it and post their scores. then someone complains that it's not a competition - while also posting her score: I appreciate the couple of posters who honestly put their scores in the 20-40 range. I put mine in the 50s, but I know I'm probably in the low 40s in the real sense. eyeroll right back atcha. but seriously, come on, man. this kind of thread ("test yourself! whee!!") is just a nice diversion from all the doom and gloom of relationships on the other boards. plus, if those tests weren't endlessly fascinating, there wouldn't be three gazillion of them out there. we all love navel-gazing. personally, i'm only in competition with myself. i read it more as - it's nice to know there's someone out there that appreciates this quality in women. and that there are lots of us and there's nothing wrong with it. solidarity and sisterhood. not necessarily competition. lindya
I'd give up SciFi for you It's not enough. You must strip the mask and cape from Darth Vader and make him sit down with us to watch When Harry Met Sally.
Ripples
It's not enough. You must strip the mask and cape from Darth Vader and make him sit down with us to watch When Harry Met Sally. Seb Shaw is dead, isn't he? Will David Prowst (sp?) do? yes, well, welcome to the internet. someone posts a test and other people take it and post their scores. then someone complains that it's not a competition - while also posting her score: eyeroll right back atcha. but seriously, come on, man. this kind of thread ("test yourself! whee!!") is just a nice diversion from all the doom and gloom of relationships on the other boards. plus, if those tests weren't endlessly fascinating, there wouldn't be three gazillion of them out there. we all love navel-gazing. personally, i'm only in competition with myself. i read it more as - it's nice to know there's someone out there that appreciates this quality in women. and that there are lots of us and there's nothing wrong with it. solidarity and sisterhood. not necessarily competition. Yeah, and lets face it, it's not exactly great that everyone now knows I've worn a bum bag.
lindya
Seb Shaw is dead, isn't he? Will David Prowst (sp?) do? Hey - I don't even know who these people are/were, so yes...David Prowst will be fine. Yeah, and lets face it, it's not exactly great that everyone now knows I've worn a bum bag. So have I And I got mugged while I was wearing it. That's surely got to up my geek score a little bit.
Ripples
Bloody hell, mugged???? Yes, that definately ups the score. Mind you, to really up the score you'd have had a tracking device <nods>
lindya
Bloody hell, mugged???? It's okay - I didn't have much money on me, and I didn't get hurt. Yes, that definately ups the score. Mind you, to really up the score you'd have had a tracking device <nods> That brings my score back down. However I've geekily googled David Prowst, and discovered that it's actually David Prowse. Take that! 90%+ Geek! Not only that, but Carrie Fisher was in both Star Wars and When Harry Met Sally....so this all proves that my rambling unconscious mind is every bit as effective in identifying patterns as is the carefully organised and mathematically precise geek mind. Author stoopid_guy
To be honest Ripples, you strike me a a sweet lady, but not geeky. Geek Test Results You are 92.5% geeky. You're the ultimate geek. I'd write that in Klingon, but you'd probably correct my grammar. Get a girlfriend. Errr........ I stand corrected, sincerest apologies, Ripples. There are indeed different kinds of geeks. Not all have attractive personalities or looks. Definately different kinds, but I have different names for the ones with crappy personalities, so if I say someon's a "geek," I always mean it as a compliment. magichands
92.5%, Ripples? That's disgraceful. I can only assume that you have not only attempted but actually succeeded in building a robot. I think the vanilla term "robot" is thinking a bit too mainstream (is that a geeky quality??). It's an insult to real robots. http://www.ai.mit.edu/projects/humanoid-robotics-group/kismet/ Of course, I'm kidding. But Cynthia Breazeal (Kismet's mother) is scorching hot...just between LS and me...and I was trying to forget all about her before this goddamn thread popped up (she's almost close enough to stalk!). I have nothing against test-yourself polls. If I did, I wouldn't have taken the poll myself and posted my scores here. It's precisely when it begins to turn into a competition that I lose it and turn into the incredible hulk.
This_Too_Shall_Pass
Um, I can't believe how crap I am. Ripples, you needn't worry!! Your score is probably real. And You're a pretty geeka!!
bab
Bab is probably the "truest" geek here. In the good way This is what the OP meant by GEEK. Uh...I'll take that as a compliment. Yay geeky women gettin' some appreciation! :bunny:

It's precisely when it begins to turn into a competition that I lose it and turn into the incredible hulk. er...no, i didn't miss your point. but you did miss mine, i think. i'm not trying to turn this into a ridiculous flame war, but again, i want to point out that the one-downsmanship isn't really any different than one-upsmanship. your post was still framing it as a competition - just in the opposite direction. Is this a flame-war?!! Woo-hoo!! My first, on LS I don't want to sound rhetoric, but I always did mean to frame it as a competition!! That's what I have been saying throughout. I'm not against polls and such at all, it's only when it turns into a competition like this one did, that it loses the fun factor. Anyway, I'm done explaining

scrybe74
A little shy, just enough to be charming, clean faced, well read, intelligent, and not afraid to show it, curious, goofy sense of humor, nothing fake, great conversationalists, great friends...
