Diana
On many radio talk shows such as Dr. Laura as well as many other talk show hosts who are less conservative than Dr. Lauara seem to all have the opinion that living together and not being married is a bad idea and only bad things can come of it. Why is this the trend now in thinking?
Ed
It depends on who you ask. Some people don't think twice about it. Some are totally against it. Yet, others think it is OK, but only under certain circumstances. Everyone has a different opinion. Personally, I couldn't care less. Why don't you tell us how you feel about it? ok
Shacking up has gotten a bad name for a variety of reasons. Let's take the usuals: 1. Religion Most western religions view this as against their faith's rules. Sex is limited to married couples. 2. Financial If you are not married you get none of the benefits of being married. Look many years down the road to when you might need social security benefits from your boyfriend. Oops, don't get any, not married! Also, you won't get the benefit of rolling over to your ownership any real estate. Imagine owning a house with someone you're not married to and having to fight with that person's "heirs" for the rights to half your home. If married, it wouldn't happen. 3. Practical You get in a car wreck and medical decisions have to be made. Oops, can't do it, your bf/gf is not the spouse.
velvet
Everyone has their own opinions. I think its safe to shack up. People shouldnt marry unless they are ready to make a family. Its a 50/50 chance for marriage to last in this day and time. What should be questioned and discussed is why couple cant trust each other, cause one another pain, cheat, lie, ect...
