Trust

Recommended Posts

I have read alot of the posts on this site regarding "trust" or "lack of trust", some which seem to indicate if you don't trust your partner YOU have a problem, or like you are causing relationship problem s by your lack of trust. I am having trust issues with my partner, due to some red flags, so thinking I might be crackers, I went for some therapy sessions After several sessions of the therapist mostly asking alot of questions regarding why I was lacking in trust, and the therapist nodding, the therapist told me if anything I was TOO trusting. I was told that although being very trusting was a good trait to have, that it was also naive in the world we live in today. That realistically speaking some people are simply not trustworthy or they don't behave in a manner that would foster trust and you have to take measures to protect yourself from them, and unfortunately I was gonna have to come to terms with that, otherwise I would be like a sitting duck for people to take advantage of. Therapist (who shoots from the hip) said: "Some people will try to shovel feces down your throat and try to make you think it is caviar." Gotta love that quote!!!

Your therapist is very wise. Not to sound negative, but anyone has the physical capability to cheat on their spouse, so you shouldn't be too trusting. Just keep your ears and eyes open for any red flags.
