luvtoto
I am a bit of a health food nut. I have been doing some research and found out some disturbing facts. Thought I'd share them with you all. Next time you buy anything 'Fat-Free" at the grocery store, think again. These companies took out the fat, but replaced the fat with chemicals. Actually, A LOT of chemicals. So, my point? It would actually be healthier to eat the regular product, than the altered one, because your body has to then process all those unnatural chemicals & preservatives. Think of what that is doing to your body? For example: look at the label of regular mayo. Then, at a label of fat-free mayo. Quite shocking! Fellow LSr's, things are not as they appear. This may be common knowledge to some people, but it's news to me!
laRubiaBonita
Why even eat mayo at all? ketchup, salsa and mustard are really the only condiments you ever need! ok, soy sauce and bar-b-q sauce too!
Author luvtoto
Ok...this is not a discussion about what your favorite condiment is. Some (or all?) labels that states "Fat-free" on the label is actually hazardous to your health.
laRubiaBonita
the worst are cokes(sodas) with all that high fructose corn syrup.... NOW that shiat is Baaad!
amaysngrace
the worst are cokes(sodas) with all that high fructose corn syrup.... NOW that shiat is Baaad! I agree. When I was a kid, some neighborhood vandals poured coke on the old man's caddy across the street. It ate the paint off the car. He had it parked in his driveway and it was up a hill, and all you saw was baby blue paint running down into the street. After that, my parents never let us drink soda again. stoopid_guy
Why even eat mayo at all? ketchup, salsa and mustard are really the only condiments you ever need! ok, soy sauce and bar-b-q sauce too! Because it taste good? I eat very little, but for some reason want it on hamburgers and tomatoe sandwiches. It's also an important ingredient in tuna salad. Almost anything "fake" is no good though, stick to natural, and stick to moderation. I feel the same way about fake meats even. I like vegetables, I like meat, but I HATE vegetables disguised as meat. I'd much rather have a nice fresh salad than a "boca burger."
tanbark813
Low fat is usually better than fat free. Fat free stuff usually has a TON of sugar in it, which just gets converted to fat anyway if you don't burn it off.
Author luvtoto
Low fat is usually better than fat free. I heard that, too. 'Light' products are ok.
PWSX3
I'm "trying" to eat better and this is a good thing to know because I like my fat free Dorothy Lynch salad dressing. So this might be off topic but what should you look for that will show you it's bad for you? I am new at this trying to eat better food....

Thanks to a GF with a bachelors in Dietetics, I don't eat half the stuff anymore that I use to.

I haven't eaten a hamburger or fast food for over a month so I'm afraid when I do it will be pretty grouse. I stopped drinking pop/soda and the last time I took a sip of my boys I thought I was going to die it was so strong.

I feel alot healthier and I have lost some weight in the process. I switched to diet pop but I don't drink it often. I still will eat hamburgers/fastfood, but once in a great while. Cheshire Cat
Fat-free mayo sounds like tomato-free ketchup: something is not quite right. Thank you for posting, I'll pay more attention to food labels.
