pinkFirm
I recently started working in a Nice recognized National Bank... I have been there for 3 days already. BUT the problem is that my trainer has been treating me bad.. Basically, i get the picture that she wants to work alone and does not want any help from me. BUt management wants someone to help her out and have a back up in case she calls in. To begin my manager and supervisor are real nice to me. The problem is that the VERY first day my trainer was being very MEAN to me. 1. She would get annoying when i would follow her around. 2. She would get mad when i would ask her a question. 3. She would get impatient when i would still be working on paper work and she was done. 4. She works very fast, and i have to catch every single thing she does bc she does not have patience to explain it to me. 5. She yelled at when i ask her for the address of the bank. 6. She slammed the Fed Ex package when she told me were the acct number was. All this happend in one day. The second day was when she yelled at me and i did not know how to react either to run to my manager and let her know OR if i should as her nicely ask if there is a problem with me. I didnt want to get her in trouble so i kindly ask her "Is there a problem when i ask you for help?" "Its berely my second day and im still learning". She said "Im very sorry if im gave you a bad vibe, its just thats theres a lot of work and i get stressed out" ANYWAY, its berely her first month working at the bank. And my supervisor asked me at the end of my first day if everyone was treating me nice beacuse the last temps (temperary) have been leaving the job right away. And that her door was always open if somethinf was going on to let her know. And I WAS THE THIRD TEMP IN A MONTH. BUT i said that i was been treated good BUT i lied because i was scared to get the trainer in trouble and i did not want to sound like a tattle tale. And on the third day my manager asked me that how was everything going? And i said "good im learning and i basically know what to do but my trainer works realy fast and i have to catch her every single move" My manager told me "if she is working to fast, let us know? These are our customers and we received a lot of calls of complaints and have do the job right to keep our customers happy." SO its killing me inside and i beleive that i should them whats being going on THAT im not being treated right or trained right. OR should i just blow it off and make it seem that she is being nice and training me right. im very confuse and i dont know what to do at this point.. im afraid that if they bring this up to her attention she is going to hate me. Or i think that she may be trying to make me look bad or i dont know. I believe that she may be the cause of the problem of all the recent two temps for leaving the job. I wanted to quit on my second day but let them them know the reason why? HELP! Should i tell my manager whats going on??
bluechocolate
Should i tell my manager whats going on?? They have given you the opportunity to tell them how things are going & you have lied. I understand why but you should tactfully tell them the truth. Somewhere down the line, if you stay on the job, you'll come across something you don't know &/or will make a mistake. By then it will be too late to try & explain that you weren't trained properly. "if she is working to fast, let us know? These are our customers and we received a lot of calls of complaints and have do the job right to keep our customers happy." Your manager should be smart enough to know that you're not backstabbing. Unfortunately we don't always get to have the luxury of working with people that we like or who like us. Personally, in your shoes I would bug & hassle that trainer until I was sure I knew all that I needed to know. Who care if she doesn't like it? It is not your job to try & please her. LaughMachine
I'm sorry your going through this bull crap with this supposively" trainer ". It's already stressful enough to start a job , let alone having someone well give you the impression of feeling" unwelcomed.I do believe you should grow some balls and spit out the truth, for it can save you having to deal with the baggage this lady is giving you. Being treated like crap at a new place is very unexcusable on the trainers part. It's allright to be obvlious to everything, and its allright to not be on the same paste as someone. People don't want to take the time to train you right, well then they shoudlen't be getting paid extra for training, if there is extra pay involved. Speak up or you will have to deal with this lady's " bad vibes " for the rest of your time spent there. That isn't considered to be " tattle telling " . It's considered standing up for your self. :-p
Author pinkFirm
thank you so much for making me realize that i should be honest even if im afraid of getting the trainer in trouble. BUt im afraid that she might already said something about me like "i feel uncomfortable around her, or she is alright" like making me look bad. But my sup. would have already told me something. RIGht? Well, because the first day after being treated bad i was awfully SHOcked!! And it was hard to act friendly bc i didnt feel wanted.. Im soo scared and i cant wait til i go back to work so i can confess and get off my chest bc its killing me... i have to let them know whats going on and the reason i didnt tell them the first day was bc i was awfully scared and i did not know how to react. Do you think that it is too late to tell my Sup or Mang.? its the fourth day of work.
bluechocolate
Do you think that it is too late to tell my Sup or Mang.? its the fourth day of work. Not at all. They will understand. Also, if you say you thought you might have been able to work something out between yourselves but are concerned now that it will effect your ability to do the job they will probably be impressed. Don't bad mouth the girl, just point to specific incidences that are making it difficult for you. Given the turn over of temps assigned to her they must already know something is going on. JCD
In my work, if the trainee doesn't like his trainer then he/she has an option of asking for another trainer and that's understandable. So ask if they have a nicer person to train you.
Author pinkFirm
dO you work at a bank? Well, im afraid that she is the only trainer...

napoleandynamite
first of all, whenever you're told you are the "third temp" to be in that position within a very short time frame, that says something about the job, employees, and the company. Take it from me (see my posts), you don't want to work for a company that goes through too many people. Because you will be next, whether you are willing or not! At one job I had, I was told I was Receptionist #6 in a four month period. They fired 3 of them ( one they fired because she spilled coffee on the floor!) and one of them resigned after two weeks-she was a VP at for an airline and retired and took the position to "keep her busy" and faxed her letter of resignation along with a nasty vm about how poorly organized the company was, the next one was a temp where they were pleased with her work and offered her a permanant job but she declined (gee, wonder why) and left when her assignment was up. Like an idiot, I stayed, I put up with a great deal of verbal abuse, and worked under bad working conditions (long story), trying to hang in there and keep the job going because it was the field I wanted to be in. Needless to say, my big thanks was a kick in the ass out the door, being told how incompetant i was at the job. Now I lack self-esteem in any job, that my work history suddenly got worse. Even one year later-I am still trying to recover. Anyway, get out of that job and FAST! It's going nowhere anyhow. And this woman who is training you sounds like she can't manage her job. Her complaints about the constant stress and her not being able to handle it shows she's not cut out for the job. Unless of course, she knows she's a loser at this place, and when someone new comes, she feels threatened that he/she may be someone better and the company will see this and kick her out right on her a$$! Sounds maybe like a combo of both. Seems like she can't manage certain portions of her job effeciently and that she wants to make anyone new look really bad to keep them out. this way, she looks like the loyal golden star. that bank/company sounds bad as well. Management is to blame for this. They should have brain enough to realize when someone is not working out, as evidence by three people who left basically because of this woman who sux. Best advice: Tell you supervisors/managers about the attitude of this woman who is training you. Don't worry about "going over her", as she is doing what she can to sabatoge you-only you are doing what is right! While you are in the process of doing this, look for another job and FAST. This position will go nowhere and the company already displayed what they are really about.
Ariadne
Hi, Well, it's obvious to me that they are trying to replace her. When management says they want: someone to help her out and have a back up in case she calls in and we received a lot of calls of complaints That means they are replacing her and she knows it. She managed to get rid of the other temps somehow (I wonder if they were that many, or just a trick of the manager) but now she has to deal with you. So, she has to teach you how to do her job so she can get fired. Not an easy place to be. I'd say make friends with her and don't look too prissy. Hopefully she won't get fired, but it doesn't look good. Ariadne

Ariadne ********************************************************** Yes, im the third temp in a month and my trainer even told me. Get this.. my trainer is only 19 yrs old and is not even going to college but the main boss asked her to go back to college. I beleive she is very immature and does not know how to act formarly in a business center. I think she should get fired, her previous jobs were as sales rep and club promoters. pinkfirm

If she's yelling, angry, and impatient that's something upper management needs to know about. Explain it to them calmly and they will respect you for it. Unless they have ulterior motives for hiring her, or are angry people themselves. Good luck!

I think management would understand, they are nice people. My trainer is different person around them nice, kind, sweet, goofy, ect. On the other page with me, she is MEAN. Im guessing she trying to make me quit-- that way my employers can be proud of her that she is the only one that can handle this duty. This job duty is so easy! If i decide to leave its beacuse of her attitude towards me and not the job duty.
