women taking initiative

Recommended Posts

I know there's a lot of people out there who say that women should go ahead and make the first move. But I'm a little skeptical because it seems like the only times things worked out for me was when the guy/man made the first move and asked me out. Once I tried to make the first move, but it flopped. The guy did go on a date with me but it felt really awkward. I felt like I was being too forward, and I think he was uncomfortable too. In a way, I feel like I've been socially conditioned on how to respond to a man approaching me, but I don't really know how to play the other role. Does anybody have any success stories from relationships where the woman made the first move? Does it actually happen or is it just some sort of urban legend?

Of course its possible. Be subtle, dont surrender yourslef.

I would give the impression you are interested, than leave it up to the man to ask you out. Throw the ball in his field.

I asked a guy out once and he agreed. He was supposed to pick me up at 7. At 8 I was unable to get a hold of him, so I called my back up and was rescued in ten minutes....That was so many years ago. The one who stood me up confessed 9 years later that he had fallen asleep after work and called me when he woke, and came over to my house and sat and talked with my parents for hours while trying to reach me by phone.

To here him tell me that so many years later, floored me.

Since than I havent considered asking a man out. He would have to be pretty special. Its my own belief that its the mans duty to call first, to ask in advance, to pay for dinner and open my car door. Times have changed and up to them for sure, but I still hold some old fashion beliefs.

Never happened to me.

I think there's a nuance here.... first move as in asking him out doesn't usually work out.

first move as in go up to him and start a conversation, or make extra eye-contact, find opportunities to hang around him, but leaving the asking out n stuff to him - that works.

thats my view,

-yes

Nothing wrong with initiating eye contact or flirting/talking a little bit, but I'm a firm believer that if a guy is interested he will ask YOU out. I really don't think it ever pays off to ask a guy out, just based on experiences I've had. Let him chase you. Guys like to pursue. If you ask him out, then you're too easy!
