No Contact with Your Family

How long has this been going on?

 

Sometimes its an unfortunate thing that you can't choose your family....

im getting very very close to cutting off my mother. shes been single since her divorce with my father (10 years ago) and has a good career going for her so i know she can take care of herself but gets blind drunk every night and trys to tell me how useless i am. cant tolerate it anymore and might just bite the bullet and get back to her in 5 or so years.

I am getting ready to cut off all ties to my so-called "family". The last six years have been pure hell for me, but none of them were there for me during my divorce, cancer and subsequent depression and suicide attempt.

 

I'm a 30-something lady and I'm all alone. My dad has never been in the picture (well, he has when I was young, but he's a drug user and a completely worthless human being) and my mom is pretty much useless to anyone, and my uncles just don't care.

 

The medical debt has put me in the poor house to the point that the collection agencies have sued me. A few months ago I suffered another health setback that cost me my job and my boyfriend who dumped me. Now I'm trying to keep my head above water, but I have no money besides unemployment checks, which barely pay the rent.

 

When I get a job I face my wages being garnished, unless I can scrape together $2,000 to file for bankruptcy. Do you think my family would help me with that so I can get a fresh start? No. Do you think my family would let me come live with them if I lost my apartment? No.

 

They suck. And now they want me to come to Christmas and will be shortly disseminating their "wish lists". Forget that. I live on ramen noodles. They are so effing insensitive and they don't care if I live or die.

 

I'm writing them off. Divorcing them all.
