I've never really seen that show but I get the feeling it'll be metrosexual type clothing, if that's the right way to describe it. Maybe that sort of clothing would suit me, but I really wouldn't feel comfortable in it and it wouldn't be me.

Here's the clothes I wear anyway, I've put the links in a new topic to get everyone's opinions.

Maybe I tend to dress metro-sexual so I'm just putting my opinions out there based on my world-view.

I'm also sick of hip-hop, the fashion, the attitude and everything associated with the culture, so I'm biased in that way.

It disgusts me that a nation as fashionable and as highly cultured as the UK has been infected with this crass American epidemic (one that's dying i think-hopefully)

But, hey, that's me. Other people see things differently.

I still think you'd attract more mature women if you dressed more maturely Ross, but like Otter says, if you want to attract younger women, maybe you're doing the right thing.

I was a zero with the ladies. I couldn't get a date to save my life. And bigger guys beat me up every chance they got...

Then I got this great pair of Air Jordans! Now I a a chick magnet, and guys cross the street when they see me coming! Thanks Nike!:D

Ugghh Ross! You can't ask for opinions and then get shirty because you don't like them!!

Now I'll give you MY opinion. It wouldn't hurt to get a nice pair of casual shoes - brown is best. Also yes - throw in some PLAIN jumpers, smart but casual. Say V-neck with a white t under it. The jeans are fine, stick with them. And also pick up a few nice dress shirts, Ted Baker do a great range that will look great with jeans/shirts for when you want to date etc.

Try to move away from everything screaming the brand name all over it. That is what is making you look younger. That's generally worn by the 16-20 age range.

You asked for it!! But don't panic, for the main part, you look just fine.

This thread so reminds me of the conversation between two characters in "Boogie nights." Wear what you dig. That's it.

Where I live, and all over the US, it seems, everyone wears t-shirts and jeans. I am wearing a t-shirt and a pair of jeans right now.

Metal guys wear Slayer t-shirts, frat guys wear beer t-shirts--Emo guys wear crying sweaters.

When I get dressed up (but still kind of casual) my shirts have a 50's sort of vibe, I wear slacks or jeans and wingtips. The important thing is that when I walk around, I think I look good.

All that matters is what YOU think about your clothes. If you think that you look good, other people will too. It is part of the confidence thing. No matter what you wear, if you feel strange in it, that vibe will come across. If you feel great in it, that will, too.

B4R is right, though, at your age if you dress all Ali G you'll get some weird looks, at least. Then again, if you are really into it there are girls who will go crazy for it. I know a guy who dresses so ghetto (he's white) it slays me, but he gets girls. Not the girls I'd date, but then I am not dating them. More power to him. He also gets snickers a lot, but he doesn't care. And that's probably the main thing.

It's just that what was said seemed a little harsh. B4R seems like a nice guy and has tried to help me out in the past, so I believe him when he says he didn't mean anything bad by what he said.

I've never really thoguht about my clothes making me look younger than wearing plain looking clothes, I do have some plain looking items and I haven't really noticed any difference. The main thing that makes me look really young is my face.

Anyway, thanks for the suggestions littlekitty, I'm realy not sure about the shoes though, I've never seen a young person wearing shoes before in my life, unless they're working in an office.

I know what you're saying. I feel really good in my clothes, I feel really happy and confident about how I look (although it doesn't take much to shatter my confidence). Anyway, I'd say my clothing is no where near the Ali G level, and I agree, that sort of clothing does look too ridiculous and over the top, even on a young person.

How old is this guy who dresses all ghetto?

Comments about clothing should never effect your confidence. Styles change and one's individual style changes throughout one's life. It has nothing to do with who you are on a basic level.

I mean, like I said, when I was younger I dressed goth and now I dress preppy.

When my father was a very young man he wore flat-tops, then he became a hippy with a Jesus look, then he dressed disco and then in the eighties he changed again and in the nineties he changed again....see what I'm saying fashion changes based on the trends and your stage in life.

I didn't mean anything I said to sound insulting, but if you took it personally I apologize.

Really? Jeez... the North/South divide must be a lot wider than I realised! Don't you have to wear shoes to get in a decent club/bar up there?

It's smarter for dates, dinner etc.

I see men (not going to work) in shoes all the time. Nice casual shoes look great and are a change from trainers. If you can't imagine yourself in shoes, perhaps at least consider a plain pair of boots - not the timberlands.

If I have time, I'll PM you a link! :)

I think he is a little older than you are. And most of the time when I see him it is in a place that is pretty punk rock. And nobody messes with him, they just giggle and rip on his clothes when he is gone. It's funny, but I make fun of his clothes right at him and he just smiles and laughs or tells me that I don't know what hip is, and that he gets mre p***y than I ever will, blah blah blah. He is actually a pretty cool guy. Even those who make fun of his clothes like him.

Everybody gets made fun of for something.
