blind_otter Posted October 19, 2006 Share Posted October 19, 2006 My Dad passed away today at 5:30pm. My mom said it was peaceful, he just took his last breath and that was it. I went to see him right after he passed, I got time alone in the room to sit by his bed. I said the Our Father, it was the first time that I've ever said that prayer where every word meant something to me. Thank you to everyone who gave me support during his long illness. Please if you read this, say a prayer for him. That he has a safe journey and a happy destination. And if you have a Dad nearby, give him a hug. And if you have children, give them a hug. That love is very precious and we take it for granted too much. I'm going to the funeral for a week or so, I'm leaving tomorrow night or friday early morning. My niece broke her hand this morning and my poor sister heard the news sitting in the emergency room waiting room. Link to post Share on other sites

And I am too,... but only that you're having to go through this. I have this feeling that you understand he's been let go from the cares of this world, and now has a brand new adventure ahead of him. I didn't know your father, but I do know he must have been some kind of man to have brought someone like you into the world and to have possessed the intensity of affection you've shown for him. The bond that you had was unique. I'm not the praying sort having lost my religion long ago, but I'll say one for your dad C. It's the least I can do. I only wish I could do more.
