Mail-Order Brides

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know anything at all on this mail-order bride thing. I know there are tons of Russian women that work for services that promote to American men for brides for a price.

How does the program work? I know there are fees and travel involved, but how long does the process take? Are the women in Russia that anxious to get out of Russia and into the US? Is it really THAT much better here?

Do any LSers have any first hand experiences?

If you're going to go this route I'd recommend a prison-gf. You can find them online and once you establish a relationship at least you never have to worry about where they are at night.

Brilliant! You, men, are really desperate.

I don't know anything about a mail-order bride program. Nonetheless, I once watched a short documentary of some sort about Russian women trying to make a living for themselves as prostitutes, models, and involving themselves in insane work. Almost all of them, made deals so that they'd escape the country. It was horrendous.

All in all, it is a lose-lose situation.

Therefore: Are the women in Russia that anxious to get out of Russia and into the US? Yes

Is it really THAT much better here? Yes.

Personally, I know very little about the mail-order-bride business . I once had a friend that was a russian mail-order bride , her hubby was a fright to behold , but she seemed happy enough and lived in the US . Personally I think B4 is onto something with the prison bride thing, not only would you always know where they were at night , you'd only have to visit once a month and I imagine they would never nag about wether the grass was cut or not.

Hey Tink, long time no see! You okay???

It's a crap shoot, kinda like arranged marriages. Many don't work out, but some do.

Would be interesting if someone has done this and is willing to share their experiences.........

I dont know to much about the entire mail order bride thing but my guess is once you marry them and they get citizenship their likely to leave you once they figure something out of how they can. Its not how most relationships should start its weird situation. The prison dating thing would be hilariouse I remember George in Seinfeld did it once and then when his prison gf let him speak for her parole board he said bad things because he didnt want her getting out.

Yes. When lucky Russia got 'democratized' (kinda like 'pulverized'), its economy, such as it was, went down the crapper.

I have known women from former Eastern bloc countries and they haven't thing one good to say about their fellow females from back home. They gave me to understand that gold-digging is practically a national sport.

If you're going hunting for women from a distance, why not use the regular dating sites where you'll be able to find someone who lives close enough for you to get to know well before taking any sort of drastic steps?

Yes, it is much better in America. I've been to Moscow and most people live in cramped apartments. The worst part is that most of them don't believe it would get any better.

As for mail-order brides from Russia, I know an American man who married a young bride (she was 22 and he was 42+). She speaks very little English, and I honestly don't know how well they get together. Anyway. After 3 years, and she became qualified to apply for green-card, you've guessed it - she divorced him.

He was left heartbroken.

I have see a couple successful marriages (older man/younger woman thing) that seem to work AND met a couple of guys that were married to Russian brides (but divorced now) that swear Russian brides are the devil incarnate.

An ex-boyfriend ended up getting mail order bride from Peru. They married and immediately had a child. It seemed at first that she really liked him, but after she got to know him intimately her demeanor changed. She actually cringes when he touches her now. These girls use it as a way to flee their country and to become citizens here. Also becoming financially sound is another motive.
