pinkFirm
i have been a temp for about 3 weeks already... And sometimes i get sent home early... well ive only completed 36 hrs the last two weeks... Today i only worked 6 hrs and got sent home at 1:30pm... IS this a BAD sign??? HOw long do temps last til the company decides to keep you? If the manager doesnt want me to stay there do they give me hints by sending me home early OR do they just tell me straight out? MAYbe im over-reacting.... however, They seem to be nice to me.
kjl933
Whenever I used a temp and I did not like her for whatever reason....I called the agency and sent her home. NO questions asked. If I would send one home early it is because I don't have enough work and since I pay by the hour, I will be damned to pay their fees for you to play solitaire on my computers. Don' take it personal. But I also would not anticipate a job offer there either--they don't have enough work to keep a temp busy, they propbaby are not hiring.
napoleandynamite
I'm begining to think companies expect way too much from temps. They need to realize you can't just throw someone at a desk and force them to know every company function. My guess would be they send you home because they only need you there for a couple of hours because the job they needed you to do is done. At my last job, when we hired temps, they stayed the full day. If my boss really didn't like them, he would have me call the agency and say we need someone else to do the job. I don't know. I hate jobs. I suck at everyone of them.
kjl933
Companies do expect a lot from temps. We pay $20+ an hour for someone to say "Hello, hold on a minute, let me transfer you." Yes there are other duties, but when we see someone that can handle all that is tossed her or his way, we hire them.
